euthanasia
who has seen the movie? did you like it? if not, how so? what were the pros and cons of this movie?

ill start us off. i personally thought the movie was O.K. a con is the camera view. really hard to watch, and i know they meant to do it to make the movie look more realistic, but it makes some people really nauseated.

what are your opinions?
Kerkido
Was it really necessary to have that huge section of the movie just for that long party? I didn't get attached to any of the characters just cos of it or anything..
But when the monsters started coming out I start buzzing laugh.gif

I'm not even gonna comment on the ending.
And I voted YES I did enjoy it!
euthanasia
agree, the movie was good, although the party was long... did you watch the deleted scenes or clover fun?

in clover fun Hud was walking around the party saying rob and beth had ---, and one guy kept interpreting him saying rob and ben had ---. eventually he's like "oh im glad for him then." and right after that he says "so who's ben"?

oh, and the ending suxored
Bella-Angelique
It was good because it was something different than the usual crypto-horror stuff.
euthanasia
that is exactly what i was thinking. the thing that makes it good is that it's different.
Incorrigible1
Thoroughly enjoyed the movie in the theater, was like a roller-coaster ride. Excellent!
Claizen
My friends tell me that they all got dizzy and headaches from seeing the movie.

I was fine.
InHuman
Loved it, altho most of the characters were annoying and the party went on for too long..

Also, only wussies got sick of the camera. IT WAS AWESOME>
GabrielArkAngel
That was a great movie.. Only thing was that party that had no point. And was it just me or did Marlena look lik she exploded?
Good movie overall...
euthanasia
she did explode... lol "Hud, i don't feel so good." "gaurds we gotta bite!" and then they shove the thing in her and blood goes all over the inside of the tent. =P best part of the movie imo
Sweetpumper
It sucked.
distortedpandy
It was alright. original.gif
Quill
I thought it was good, not great, but still good.
GabrielArkAngel
Oh andthe secret message at the end pissed me off... "help us..." when played backwards says "Its still alive..."
Claizen
Someone told me at the end of the credits, they show something that leads to a sequel?

"Something that fulls from the sky and lands in the ocean"?

Not a sequal, just a easter egg for those following the backstory.

A sequal would ruin it, but mabye another movie/miniseries dealing with other peoples experiences.
euthanasia
i think that person might have been lying

Actually a Prequel, that part at the end wasn't recorded over. It was recorded recently before Hud video-taped over most of it.

No sequel, unless it lived!?

But maybe from another point of view of others who filmed it... or from another monster that have landed elsewhere.

Cloverfield sucked! I went to the movies to see it & hated it. Then I rented it to see what everyone was saying about the end scene where you see the thing falling out of the sky when they're in Coney Island. Well you can barely see it, we had to actually do it in slow motion to see it & even then it was hard to see except for the splash in the ocean. As far as another movie, it's not a prequel or sequel, it's going to be the same movie from a different point of view so it wont be first person view like Hud walking with the camera. That's what I heard but I wont waste my money to see that.
Digithead
I enjoyed this from the beginning to the end.
I loved the way they filmed it! At some points I had to pinch myself because, I
forgot that it was staged, and not a authentic recording.
SeEtHeR
It was kind of okay, could of had a better ending.
And the camera shaking was aggravating.
GabrielArkAngel
Wiki says there is a sequel in the works... Link
Homer
Like a lot have already mentioned, I enjoyed the movie, but thought the party scene was too long.

I have never been to NY, but from the things I've heard about it, I kept wondering if Cloverfield was based on a true story grin2.gif
Atheist God
I thought the movie was good but could have been better.

For those looking for a good first person perspective movie you should watch George Romero's new film Diary of the Dead.
LIGhostChick
OMG when I attempted to watch it for a second time, I still couldnt get through it no.gif . It was crap but Diary of the Dead I wanna see so badly. I cant wait to rent it.
Ausaria
I adore Cloverfield. It had probably the greatest system of film advertisement this country has ever had. And I won't be surprised if it's imitated in the future.

What makes it so intriguing is the the back-story, and all the hidden elements to the movie that aren't known unless one takes the time to research the movie.

I don't push my opinion on movies too much, since people have different taste - but anyone who simply watches the movie and says "that sucked," is probably just naive to the hidden events going on with the movie.
Stuman
Yeah I enjoyed Cloverfield. I think i am the only here that would think the party scene is totally necessary for character development.

J.J. Abrams confirmed a second Cloverfield. Although yet again, he's not telling us jack squat.
