"Protest man nails himself to sign board

A MAN nailed himself to a board outside a St Helens church in protest against terrorism.
The 32-year-old was found attached to a sign at St Thomas’s church on Westfield Street yesterday morning.
A Merseyside police spokesman said he had hammered a small nail through the skin between between his finger and thumb.
He had claimed it was a peaceful protest against terrorism.
He was released by firefighters and paramedics treated him before taking him to hospital.
His injuries are not thought to be serious.
A police spokesman said: “It was some sort of protest, not against the church but against terrorism.”
