well define 'first sighting'?
If you are referring to Kenneth Arnold's sighting on June 24th 1947, then you will have to re-look at the UFO phenomenon.
UFO visionaries such as Jacques Vallee have found reported sightings that stretch back into the Middle Ages.
As for the sudden awakening of knowledge...
all it takes is one domino to knock them all down. Einstein was postulating advanced theories in Gravity and the universe long before modern UFO sightings. Actually, as a precursor to anything Einsten did, the theory of Quantum Mechanics was first derived in 1900.
What you are referring to of course is the expolsion of technology...but you need to look at it from this apsect:
Was it the 1950's when technology truly leapt and bounded? or was it the advent of the microchip in the 70's? All it took was one idea and the domino effect took hold.
As for the original question....it's laughable.
human beings have used the same principles for thousands of years, it was the advent of the microchip in the 70's that allowed us to explore those principles to the nth degree. Not alien technology.
Your right the domino effect makes alot of sence. . . Mankind has acomplished ALOT in a small amount of time though! From vaccins to medical advancments, space travel, communications, we are living in a diffrent world than our ansesters no doubt.
