Click to view attachmentI got this in an email. I find it kind of different from some other clouds i have seen. Some of the pics show completely normal cloud formation however the other pics are strange. I was wondering if someone can explain to me what's really going on.

Well, the story in the email said that, this was taken at 4.24pm on 4th May 08 at Kuatan Stadium (Malaysia) during some event. And of course needless to say the story also came with some doomsday prediction, which always makes me a little skeptical on the truth of said pictures.

Anyway, i chunk all the pics in one file so it's easier to view. Anyone who wants the email in it's entirety can PM me their email address.

Warmest Regards, Shaffy.

Have you ever noticed the high thin clouds that will usually arrive before a line of thunderstorms or sometimes seem like whiffs of clouds in the sky on a sunny day? These are cirrus clouds which are clouds formed by ice crystals due to their height in the atmospehere. The bottom clouds in the formation are cumulous clouds which can be associated with rain but not always. The clouds on top are the cirrus clouds which are having light reflected off of them. Really neat formations though, not too unusual.

I've seen something exactly like the middle few pictures - as a thunderhead was boiling upwards in the distance, a very flat circular sheet of cirrus clouds suddenly formed JUST above the top, and got distorted as the cumulous thunderhead pushed upwards until it broke through. It ended up looking like there was a slightly transparent blanket draped over the whole thunderhead, getting further away from the cloud the further away from the center you looked.

Wow it looks as if the cloud had a halo or something! Really pretty!

Thanks for posting! Never seen one like that though...
