Full Version: Last Resort?

I was watching "Cities of the Underground" on The History Channel. Several weeks ago & they mentioned "Hitler's Last Resort." And honetly (even if it existed) it's truely a scary thought. >.< After the episode, I kept thinking about it. I really did. I just decided it wasn't "real" just to put my mind at ease.

For those who don't know. Hilter had a "doomsday device" that could go to the Earth's core. And blow up the planet if he didn't win the WWII. Thankfully, it never happened. But it's still a very scary thought.

What's your thoughts?

im pretty sure this device didnt EVER exist first of all there is not a substance or metal known to man that could withstand the heat from earths core and also once they did get there wat could they possibly do to kill us ?
thats right nothing they didnt have the technology then to destroy and/or stop the earths core and im petty sure we still dont now

While reading this topic I could not help but think of the project DESTINY, from the movie 'The Core".

I'm pretty sure the only 'doomsday' weapon to feature in WW2 was the nuclear bomb, and the germans didn't have em'
Solarbite
Hitler could blow up the earth, but he couldn't create the ATOM bomb? I don't think so original.gif

It is a pretty scary thought but highly doubtful that sort of technology existed back them. It is a safe bet it does not exist even now and probably won't for many years to come.

They had the blueprints. If the war went on a couple more years, they'd of had them.

Also, we can't drill passed the Earths crust NOW never mind 63 years ago.

I never knew that.

Okay. Now I think about it. I don't think we actually can.

actually the only reason hitler didnt have nukes is the US and Russia stole all the brainy people before they built them.

that and bombing Gerry facilities that produced heavy water.

as for blowing up the earth. come on. so countrary to his dream of an arian world.

the man was a racist not stupid.

That film was brilliant, but with DESTINY it was an unintended side effect.
Cyaneyed
Aside from the obvious incredibility of the idea, if the core were drilled to, would it not just create a huge fountain of lava through the passage dug? I doubt it'd be possible to stick a bomb down there. Not that it'd be possible to get there in the first place.

Excuse me for a stupid thread. Can a mod close this?
bee

But before it's closed....can I just say.....who knows what grains of truth may be in what was
said on that programme.....there's a lot of stuff about the nazis that we are probably
completely unaware of.

Maybe they did have a last resort senario of some kind in the pipe line.....but got bought off/bribed/battered
before they got anywhere near using it........

This was NOT a stupid thread.....and Primeval was very disrespectful.....keep up the good work, MoonPrincess... thumbsup.gif

No, no do not ask to close the thread OP. This is just getting interesting. I for one do not believe anyone knows what is at the core of the earth since no one has been down there. Everything we learned in grade school was just a theory. No one knows!!

Thank you & true.

He is being a little disrespectful.

I think there is A LOT MORE out there. We haven't discovered yet or haven't been made public.

Okay. I won't.

MODS: I TAKE THAT BACK!

The thing is, Hitler did have all kinds of scientests working for him in the Nazi Regime, and they were doing many experimental things, BUT, the problem is, now that all this time has passed, much of this has simply become pure fantasy. I can't tell you how many incredible things I've heard the Nazis were supposedly working on. You don't hear anything like this in the immediate years after world war 2; I just don't know where all these crazy myths came from.

actually its not a theory its near enough proven fact like evolution
the proof lies in plate tectonics which im going to assume u already know all about if not then read watson this link plate tectonics
u see there must be molten rock and extremely high temperatures aswell as an iron core in the earth to explain how we have compasses that can show north and moltenrock and lava which is a part of plate tectonics

hmm i just figured a way to make operation last resort happen.

but it would be a waste unless you had some form of Ark to escape in. that and an idea where you could go.

Like lots and lots of threads in this fourm, this idea made a much better episode of Doctor Who than it reflects any historical truth.

Well that's what they said in the episode. Not me. I was just curious about it, Jaylemurph.

That's all.

I'd watch this movie.
