LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — It's a happy Mother's Day for an Arkansas woman — she's pregnant with her 18th child.

Michelle Duggar, 41, is due on New Year's Day, and the latest addition will join seven sisters and 10 brothers. There are two sets of twins.

"We've had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us," she said, laughing.

The Duggars' oldest child, Josh, is 20, and the youngest, Jennifer, is nine months old.

The fast-growing family lives in Tontitown in northwest Arkansas in a 7,000-square-foot home. All the children — whose names start with the letter J — are home-schooled.

Duggar has been been pregnant for more than 11 years of her life, and the family is in the process of filming another series for Discovery Health.

The new show looks at life inside the Duggar home, where chores — or "jurisdictions" — are assigned to each child. One episode of the new show involves a "jurisdiction swap," where the boys do chores traditionally assigned to the girls, and vice versa, Duggar said.

"The girls swapped jurisdictions, changing tires, working in the garages, mowing the grass," she said. "The boys got to cook supper from start to finish, clean the bathrooms," among other chores.

Duggar said she's six weeks along and the pregnancy is going well. She and her husband, Jim Bob Duggar, said they'll keep having children as long as God wills it.

That woman is insane! Why have so many kids!?
Kerkido
"Wow!!!!!" from me too! Usually I hate it when people have heaps of kids. Because along with children, comes with responsibility! So if you're not prepared for that, don't have a child!
But she sounds really organised and coordinated

Pregnant again ?? ohmy.gif

I've seen their family on Discovery a couple of times and knew of baby no. 17 but another on the way ?? She'll probably keep going until she hits menopause.....How can her body cope ??

I must say the family is very organised and everyone has a job to do, so all the load doesn't fall on the mum......Unfortunately, she won't get to go in the Guiness Book of Records for having the most babies......That honour goes to a Russian peasant woman who gave birth to 69 kids...... w00t.gif

Imagine having to remember 69 names..... laugh.gif

...and they're all homeschooled... she's a far better woman than I yes.gif

Hey now! I have changed car tires since I was 10! Lived on a dairy and there were no sons. I did/do a lot of "male" jobs.

Ok, I don't see anything wrong with having kids, but there's such a thing as too many! First of all, the more kids the have, the greater their financial responsibility is gonna be, and how in the hell can they afford to give 18 kids everything they need or want? That includes food, clothes, toys, school supplies, health insurance, etc. I'm guessing they can't, which means they're probably supported, in large part, by the government, our tax dollars. Also, if they keep having kids, the kids aren't gonna have energetic parents who wanna play with them or take them to the park or take them to an amusement park, etc. and it's not gonna be fair to their younger kids not to mention those still not yet conceived! Secondly, it's called a vasectomy, GET ONE! It'll be cheaper than trying to support a bunch more kids! Lastly, think of the stretch marks that lady must have! blink.gif

Actually they say they are 100% dept free on the show and pay for every thing with cash, due to some realestate deals the husband had in the 80's , they also claim to have no gov. support.

As for strech marks, after three kids I can tell you they are not really a guaranteed side effect of pregnancy if you take care of your self. And if she does have ill effects on her body from so many kids her husband does not seem to mind. . . wink2.gif

FYI, he is wanting the children just as much as she is. In fact, last night on the local news, he even said it himself. They can afford it. If they want that many children, let them have it.

On another note: Uh... As an Arkansan who watches the state news... last I checked it was her 17th. o.O Maybe they weren't counting Josh, last night.
girty1600
At least they have a large house.... Perhaps she should hang up her ovaries so-to-speak.

Jees, that's a very fertile couple. 18 kids no.gif

I wonder why certain people can just have kids like that and others have to really go to some extremes to even conceive, that is if they are at all able to. hmm.gif

I thought it was bad for the body to be constantly prego. But if the doctors give her the go ahead and they are as happy and as well adjusted as they all seem, then God Bless them.

Reminds me of that woman on Groucho Marx' TV show. When she said she had nine kids, Groucho asked why. She said "Because I love my husband."

Groucho said, "Yeah, I love my cigar, too, but I take it out of my mouth sometimes."
