If you haven't heard of spore but you don't follow gaming new that's forgivable, but if you
do follow gaming news(or at least think you do) and you haven't heard of spore, well obviously you don't follow gaming news
For those of you who don't know,it's a game coming out made by Will Wright(the maker of Sims) that basically lets you create a creature and walk it through the history of it's species. There's alot more to it but if you wanna find out details google it.I assure you there will be too much info

Anyway, the part of the game I'm focusing on in this post is the Creature Editor, which has virtually limitless possibilities at the creator's fingertips.Imagine what you could make with it!!!Nessie???Bigfoot???Mothman???Dover Demon???A mix of all four???How many minutes do you think it will take for someone to make a Chupacabra???How many Chupacabras do you think there will be???So yea, this game, besides it's extremely fun gameplay, wonderful editors, and easy-to-learn-edness,will be a crypto-lovers playground for creating all of their wildest fantasy beasties.

SPORE!
The Creature Phase will be fun, but the space phase will without a doubt be the best thing ever. UNLIMITED control over the galxy, you can do whatever you want!
As for its connection to crypto I was considering making a planet populated by only cryptids, that would be so cool! Mokele Mbembes wallowing in the swamp, watching out for the 60ft Anaconda's, a tribe of bigfoot in the forest herding Dover Demons, in the wide open grassy plains talks megalania after a Jackolope, in the deserts Burrunjor growl at Thunderbirds and Kongamoto overhead, in the mountains the Yeti tribes engage in violent combat with one another, and in the jungles Moa live amongst giant spiders!

I have had this game pre-ordered for almost 2 years (sept 2006 to be exact) and if they pospone launch one more time, I am gonna throw a big hissy fit.

It looks so awesome, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

I thought there was a rule against 1-2 word posts.
Anyway, as soon as Spore comes out, I'm buying it. Imagine: a planet of Sasquatches.

I can't wait either!!!! Well, I guess I can, I've been waiting since I heard about this game, last year.
I never thought about making a cryptid though, thanks for the suggestion Yorg!!
I wonder if I can make a bigfoot that flies and spits poison?

From what I've seen, it's more likely you could create a Tatzelwurm or a Chupacabra.

It SUCKS that swimming and flying creatures were removed.

technically, there is a flying creature, but it can only go as high as a hovering above the ground, it would be interesting to have swimming creatures, they may be introduced in a later expansion

ive heard of this game before ,i hope they keep underwater ,and flying options or sell them as expansion packs , ive really want this game but however when it finally does come out (they keep changing the date supposed to be September now) my computer will be to slow for it ,you will need a a very expensive computer for such a big game your creatures advance to civilization and once you buy the UFO you can travel to different solar systems and millions of planets.

It's the guy who made
The Sims, of course it's gonna have expansion packs.
Anyway, videos. This guy is absolutely crap at the creator though, you can make much more interesting things.

spore will definately come out unless there are technical issues, however you wont need to have an awesome computer to run it, its not your crysis.

I don't know... Graphics aren't the only thing that decide how tough a game is on your system.
Undeadskeptic
May 23 2008, 11:30 AM
It will run easily on most PCs because so much is procedurally generated.
Yorgmiester
May 23 2008, 08:20 PM
Yea it's not gonna need a super computer, but the textures, clouds, water effects, etc. are pretty good,so if you feel like your comp won't run it,you're probably right.I'm not sure if you will be able to tone the graphics down, since part of the creature editor is adding skin texture. But who knows.
Orcseeker
May 23 2008, 11:29 PM
though it is procedurally generated, if you've even had experience with basic programming, you know that this takes up a bit of CPU, however, the game has been designed also to reduce use of CPU. I wont go into detail but I can tell you its not gonna use a lot. System requirements for the creature editor:
Operational Sytem - Windows XP/Vista (FAT 16/32 file systems not supported for Digital Download)
Processor – 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
Memory – XP: 512 MB RAM / Vista: 768 MB RAM
Hard Drive – At least 300 MB of hard drive space for installation, plus additional space for created creatures. (600 MB for digital download)
Video Card – A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0*
For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game
requires at least:
* Intel Integrated Chipset GMA 950
* Dual 2.0GHz CPUs, or 1.7GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
Supported Video Cards:
ATI Radeon series: 9500, 9600, 9800 X300, X600, X700, X800, X850 X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950 2400, 2600, 2900, 3650, 3850
NVIDIA GeForce series: FX 5900, FX 5950 6200, 6500, 6600, 6800, 7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
Intel® Extreme Graphics :GMA 950, GMA X3000, GMA X3100
Please note these specs are for the creature editor, vut for the full game, possibly RAM and definately HDD space will be more.
