When you pass into the otherworld or heaven as some call it what type of funeral do you want? I'm not asking to be morbid I'm curious as to are you going to have a funeral thats based on your beflies.

As for myself I want a funeral based on my belifes I am still looking into what Druids had done with thier bodies. I would like my body put on a raft on a lake & set on fire by arrows. OK I've seen too many movies..... Still legally I am not sure if I can get away with it, unless I had my own land. I am hoping I can find a local driud priest to head it up. The only thing I could think of besides setting my body on fire would have my ashes scattered around my favorite tree. Knowing that Druids believe that tree are the gateway to the Otherworld that might be an options. Not sure what song or music I might have playing perhaps the song my wife & I got married too.

I'm not sure, way I'd look at it is what scares me more while I'm alive - the thought of being buried or cremated? I guess whatever I decide is the less worrying of the two should be the last thing that ever happens to me. Actually, screw it - sudden change of belief right now. I'm going to go with whatever option scares me more, and face up to the fear. So what if I'm dead, it still counts.

Not sure I'd care much what happens to my vessel after the spirit has left the building. Couldn't care less, actually, I'll be floating around doing what I always thought I was meant to be doing, exploring the cosmos

I agree,I do not really care what happens to my body, but it might be cool to be buried for a thousand years and have future scientists digging me up in a study of some sort.I think it is best to do what your loved ones would really like as it would be that much more of a confort for them in that time of hardship.

In Hawaii where I have lived For the past 20 years they have a celibration of Life with aloha atire and colors that are bright and colorful, to wear a Black Garb to a hawaiian funeral is A morbid sad thing, we prefer to honor the life Of our bro or sister as Happy and Beautiful, not black and sad.

My friends and family can do whatever makes them feel best. It makes no difference to me what-so-ever. I'm not there, the funeral, burial, whatever is for them, not for me.

Although, we had a party for grandma when she passed last September. It was actually... fun. I kinda hope my friends and family throw a party for themselves.

The most environmently effcient way to be buried is upright in a hessian sack underneath a tree. The decomposed remains fertiize the tree, and by being buried upright means that less burial plots are required. Me though, i am going to be cremated.

lmao - that's what I say about my mothers body. my brother worries because she has no life insurance so he's worried about who is going to bury her since no one has the money . I 've told them again and again .... we can sell her body to science , not bury her but make an actual profit !

As for the Druidic practices,it varied...depending on the circumstances.A small list would be:

Buried in the ground and have a tree seedling planted over the body.
Have a cairn of rocks placed over the body.
Be buried in a mound.
Be burned on a pyre and have the ashes scattered to the Four Winds.
Be carried out into the woods (just before or after death) and left to become both food and fertilizer (some would do this on their own if able to).

Fit for a king huh? I'm not sure if my wife & I will ever have kids & but no matter what I want everyone to know how much I loved life & that I'm going to enter the next life with that same idea.

I will follow the Islamic way of burial, god willing. It's not much different than any regular funeral except for the prayers given and I think it is done as soon as possible. No waiting days for a wake.

When I die I want my body to be fed to squirrels, I was seen as being nuts during my life after all....

While I am joking about "squirrles" there is something that appeals to me about my body being eaten by animals (after I am dead of course). If I am not mistaken there is some culture(s) that practices such funeral rites. I am sure I will probably end up being filled with toxic chemicals and entombed in a cement box like most people. However, I do like the idea of my death providing other life (or livings) with the substance it needs to carry on, as opposed to being consumed by fire or being pickled and put in the ground.

For some reason being injected with chemicals, thrown in a box, and burried under dirt doesn't sound too nice nor does being set on fire.

But then again I won't really care because I'll be dead...sell me on Ebay.

Whenever I think about my own death, I never consider funeral arrangements - I'm always thinking about the next step the soul takes. But I guess I'd like something simple with a bit of humor thrown in. I too like the idea of my body giving back to the earth and decomposing naturally, instead of being cremated or filled up with embalming chemicals. I also think the idea of an open casket funeral is weird. Who would want to look at my dead body all made up?

I would really like to leave that all up to my surviving family. Other than the desire to be cremated after organ donation, I would want my family to do what ever it is that they would enjoy. I would hate to see my husband or children be burdened with the cost of an elaborate service, and is something I've already mentioned to a few family members. If they choose to use my remains as fertilizer for a newly planted tree I think that would be great. I would really rather they do something that won't be a burden to them.

Ummm..lets see, i would donate any useful organ, and have the rest cremated and scaterred in a wild area to serve as fertilazer. Of course, before that my family woudl have a nice meeting to remember me, but i dont want any special.

I want my funeral to be held at night and a blood offering is required to gain passage the rest just breaks to many laws to post about it.

Ew, I know. I've always found open casket funerals to be strange. . .I know some say its to say that final "goodbye". . .but the person you see in the box isn't the person you knew in life. . .I don't want my last memories of someone being them bloated in a casket. . .I want to remember them as they were alive.

I told my parents and my boyfriend that, if something should happen to me while they are still alive, that I would want to be cremated...and I'm an organ donar, so I guess there might not be too much left to cremate. . I've always hated the thought of being embalmed and put into a coffin. . . and, if I am cremated, I don't want them to spend all that money on an urn to put me in. . .that's just silly. They can do whatever they want with me just as long as it isn't anything overwhelmingly disrespectful . . I want alot of humor involved. . .because I find so much humor in everything now, that I could only hope that people would still see it after I died. I told my boyfriend that if something happened to him, that I'd have him cremated and I'd carry him everywhere like the guy did to the dog on Joe Dirt.

I have a good friend who recently lost her dad. He was quite the practical joker as I understand. Anyway, his request was to have his ashes spread at the Grand Canyon. So the immediate family makes the trip there, everybody says a few words and the box of ashes is opened up and poured over the side of the cliff...the wind immediately shift direction and brought the ashes back onto everyone standing there...no one knows whether to be horrified or to laugh their butts off. They spent the rest of the trip home trying to figure out if the spreading of the ashes was his one last practical joke or not...

I like your funeral idea and I hope you get what you want. A basic right is to have a funeral the way that you want it, but not all authorities respect our wishes.

As a Raelian, we've been given precise instructions as to what we must do with our bodies after death.

First of all, 1 square centimetre of the bone of our forehead must be cut out and sent to the head of the Raelian Movement (Rael) who keeps this in a safe place. This is a recognition of our creators, the Elohim, in our death. Plus, this sample of ourselves contains our genetic code and bone is solid and hard and won't break down (when kept in the right conditions). When humanity is able to clone people, these samples will be used in order for humanity to progress with the technology.

Secondly, the Elohim ask us to donate our bodies to science. If we don't want to do this, the Elohim have asked that we ask for our bodies to be disposed of discreetly (cremation is best because too many bodies take up land in a graveyard).

Our funerals must be celebrated and we are never to be mourned with a sad occassion, because when we die the Elohim may choose to scientifically recreate us on their planet (known as heaven in the Bible and other religious texts).

So when we're dead, we may actually be able to watch our own funeral through the advanced technology of the Elohim!

I want to be buried on green hills (preferable in North America) and I want there to be a party on/at my grave site. I want there to be happiness when I die because I (personally) enjoy the concept of dying. It sounds exciting.
