Full Version: If you were a paranormal Investigator?

If you were a "professional" Cryptozoologist, Ufologist, or another kind of paranormal investigator. What would take up most of your time?
Yetis'? The Roswell incident? Ghosts'?
What would you dedicate your work and life to?
Explain why.

Or, if you actually are a paranormal investigator, what do you concentrate the most on. Share your experiences with us.

Thanks

Honestly, if I were a professional paranormal investigator I'd concentrate mostly on book and TV appearance deals and hopefully a big payoff movie deal. I wouldn't worry too much about the subject matter since I could always rehash anything that's already been presented.

A guy's gotta make a living somehow and I'm sure the paranormal investigation field doesn't pay all that well.

If 'professional' applied to crypto study..I.E. it paid the bills, I'd have done it decades ago. The only people making money off it are hacks who publish sensational tabloid-style books, and make regular TV appearances.

I'm sorry, let me rephrase that.

If you were a paranormal investigator. Not necessarily being professional.

I just wanted to know, what people would spend their time on if they actually were
investigating paranormal activities, instead of surfing the internet for information, as I do.

By "professional", I guess I meant people like the BFRO (the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization)
or the BUFORA (British UFO Research Association).

I apologize for that. wink2.gif

But let's get back to the what the post was all about. What would you concentrate the most on?

Well, personally, I would love to be rich and have a team of best friends who go and do a couple studies on our favorite crytpids. I once had a whole story in my head of that, all the way down to the names of my camera crew and everything. We would have a blog online and host a TV show, where every new episode would focus on a different cryptid that we would spend excessive funding and time on. The ones I really focused on were:

The Michigan Dogmen
Champ of Lake Champlain
Mokele Mbembe
Dragons
Thunderbirds

And that is pretty much my dream in life. How would I get rich? I'm going to write a book of course and become famous! (Even if the book isn't all that great, I'll still be very young to have a book published which would gain me some fame, hopefully.)
Nik Xues
Bigfoot most likely
not convinced they actually look.

as for Ufos why watch when i can build one.

Ps dont mess with ghosts
i know i can get cranky when woken up.

think how miffed they are about not getting their "eternal" rest

No need for apologies Digithead.

On the other hand, sorry for being a bit factitious in my earlier reply.

If I were to dedicate myself to researching an unknown it would be sea cryptids. There's just enough tantalizing evidence to suggest that some form of undiscovered aquatic life may be the basis for sea monster or sea serpent sightings. Marine life has been extensively studied and categorized, and I emphatically agree that surviving prehistoric life forms are an impossibility, but that doesn't mean the we know all that exists in the ocean's depths.

It's more of a romantic notion of mine, but who knows what future discoveries will reveal?

I would dedicate myself to the search for a camera that can take crystal clear pictures of anything. One thing sorely missing in the field.

You've just given me an idea! A camera with an instant photoshop feature that will transform any picture you take into the cryptid of your choice.

I wonder if there's a patent already...? unsure.gif

snuffypuffer
You'd really want to get yourself a day job with extremely flexible hours. yes.gif That would be your first goal, I'd think.

Bwahahaha, that is brilliant, could be a massive time saver for some.....My wifes Vaio has something similar that puts hats and ears on people in the inbuilt cam. You might want to jump on that patent.

If I were a professional cryptozoologist, I'd drive an Aston-Martin with an ejector seat and machine-gun tail-lights. I'd be suave and debonair. and live by my wits. I'd win at every casino game and have beautiful women draped off each arm. I'd have a license to kill.

Oh, excuse me. I AM a professional cryptozoologist.

What were you asking?

I did actually say "Or, if you actually are a paranormal investigator, what do you concentrate the most on..."

Well, I know that a paranormal investigator and a cryptozoologist aren't the same, but do I really have to spell it out?
I'm just asking what subject that uses up most of your attention. wink2.gif

I myself for instance, are, more than any other, focused on the undiscovered primates, such as Bigfoot, Yeti and The Florida Skunk Ape.
WEREGIRL666
im an investagator so... whats the q?

I would concentrate on the elusive "how to actually make money in this field".

Easy!! Sell off your credibility and make stuff up! Look for things like manbearpig (half man, half bear, half pig) that are really entertaining, blur up a heap of photos (take some piccys of carrots or something and wipe a white spirit across the face - scan again for an undoctored scan), photograph some insects with varying shutter speeds or wind up a conspiracy theory that the Governement is covering up your cryptid, or plant evidence to find, although Steve Alten may have a patent on that.
To look for real things like Pygmy Elephants, or primate variations wont net any cash, and will require heaps of study. The above crash course should have the dollars rolling in with a short time period.

Ah! Of course! But do you think I will ever be famous enough for people in Paranormal Forums to quote me and refer to me?
SeEtHeR
I would say looking for "bigfoot". There's plenty of places to look for him
at just having the time to do it is the problem.
I already had experience with "ghosts, spirits, entities" what
ever the correct name for them is. So no need to go looking for them and besides
they don't never stay long enough to take a snapshot of them. Must be alot of
shy ones around my area.

murdock12
Grays, but not roswell, simply because they make up 75% of all alien sightings which means that there has to be somthing, just what?
Promethius
If i was a proffessional cryptozoologist i would go looking for chupacabra...
openmind1963
i would find a way to prolong the study of paranormal happenings after i was dead.i do'nt need a $hitload of money, just enough to keep me working so i would'nt have to rely on donations
or handouts.these questions will probably not convince the world of proof it exsists, but just like world peace,i pray that it does in my children's lifetimes.
