Hey, welcome to the site.

Don't worry about it, it's classified as sleepwalking - you might not be going anywhere, but the basics are the same. Some people even drive while asleep, and on occassion sleepwalking has been used as an alibi for murder. Your condition is nowhere near as extreme - however, are you under stress? This is a common cause of sleepwalking.

Take care.

I agree this is notbhing to worry about . It could be a form of sleepwalking as the previous poster explained . it could just be part of a dream . my daughter does this a lot and then wonders why shes sat up and lays back down . we have established its usually when shes having a scary or shocking dream it causes her to jump up kind of like a reaction as if she was going to run away or jump out of bed. so yeah i wouldnt worry at all . original.gif

I used to get up in the middle of the night and make beaded jewelry in my sleep - no joke.

Sitting up is nothing. original.gif

You see, that is the kind of dedication and entrepreneurship that you just dont see these days. Kids these days only want to work 8 or 9 hours and knock off for the day and go home and sleep, but oh no...you blow the curve out of the water and go home and work IN YOUR SLEEP. They say that the American spirit and drive are dead, but I dont think so. You are going places. You may not know where you are when you get there and wake up...but hey... sleepy.gif blink.gif tongue.gif

Sorry, kidding Purplos...

I used to walk in my sleep too. Not a real big deal unless you find yourself doing something dangerous or wandering out of the house. At the time I lived in a loft above a hand grenade factory, so it caused a couple of embarrassing incidents and my renters insurance didnt want to cover the damage, but that is another story...

Sitting up in bed might be a bit frightening, but it is common and treatable...and if you notice that it keeps happening or gets worse (Wake up in another part of the house, hear a deafening explosion and see your neighbor car burst into flames) you might want to talk to your family doctor.

You may also want to have yourself checked out for sleep apnea. My dad had apnea, and he would sit up while he was sleeping a lot, because when he was laying down, his berathing passages would close, and he's semi-wake up and sit up so he could breathe, but not wake up enough to be fully conscious or remember it.

Do you wake up when you sit up, or are other people telling you that you are doing this?

I dont spose the beads were in some sort of colour pattern, now that would be funny.

People even drive, go for long walks, etc, while "sleepwalking!" Sitting up is small potatoes..
