I can hear the shotguns being cocked as I mention a Ouija board.

However, I have something to share. Feedback is welcomed. Just don't hunt me down for this.

Recently, a friend and I purchased a Ouija board, just to say we had one. Well, we decided to see if it would work without actually contacting any spirits with it. We set the board on the kitchen table, put the planchette across the table and left it. We left for the day and locked the door and all the windows. He lives alone and nobody else has keys to his house. We came back, checked all the doors, windows and such. All were still locked and nothing was broken or missing. We went to the kitchen to check on the board. The planchette had moved from across the table to the board in the exact center. There was nothing (that I can think of) that could have made this happen. I want to conduct this expieriment again with a video camera rolling. To see if it does actually happen again. Any thoughts/questions/feedback/skepticism is welcomed. Please let me know your thoughts other than "Ouija boards are evil don't use them"

Why would you check all the doors, windows etc first AND THEN check the OB on the kitchen table ??

Were you expecting something to have happened ??

Think outside the Box, think like Sherlock Holmes
Well if I was to set up an experiment like this I know this is a bit messy but I would set up the board to center of table Planchette to center or outer edge or board in center of room removing all the chairs then I would take cake flower into a flower sifter and or tight meshed wire screen and lay down a film of Flower around the board and upon the floor around the table in a far enough area that a arm could not reach to the board without disturbing the flour original.gif, lock away the flower and the sifter don’t leave it accusable after laying down the dusting, then set up the video camera or not, and leave… That is how I would approach it…

His friends have a habbit of coming in through the windows when he's not home. Also, he's had a history of the house being broken into.

The only problem is spirits are not all stupid. They can see you setting up video cameras and dusting the place with flour. So if te spirit is resident it may not play because of the "traps" that have been laid.

A lot of paranormal programs treat the spirits as if they are not there. Odd.
jpatt
What do you mean you placed the planchette "across the table"? Exactly how far are you saying it moved?

The fact is, whether you're a dyed in the wool skeptic or an absolute believer, there is zero chance, if you didn't even USE the board, that ANYTHING would cause the traveler to move on its own, without their being some preexisting condition - vibrations, extremely violent mouse fart, you already have a poltergeist, the usual suspects. If there is truly no explanation you can think of that would account for the movement, the answer is either A) someone you know moved it, maybe on their way out when you left initially or came back in, or cool.gif fraud on your part - there are no other reasonable explanations. Talking boards do not simply "use themselves" right out of the bow, with no one present. I personally don't believe they "use themselves" at all, at any time, but that's a different disagreement.

I would like to say I strongly applaud the cake flour idea though. I've suggested that (or carpet powder etc) to several people that reported hauntings. If things are still disturbed, but the powder is not, then that is one explanation (someone living), most likely, that you have eliminated. And if there are footprints that don't match anyone that should be there, that's something too.

That seems like a good way of doing it Pavot - I don't buy the concept of needing to put fingers on the planchet, if a ghost can communicate through the board, it can just spell out the words itself, surely. huh.gif

naw just kidding
anyways yeah thats intersting, i believe that you dont have to touch a board for the oracle to move around, if spirits can honestly make chairs, pictures, cups, etc. move on their own then it's obviously not that hard to move the oracle for them either, if it moved it onto the the center of the board, something there honestly wants contact with you and wants it's presents known to you. The flour idea is good idea to put around the are and see if anyone disturbed it, how many people were with you and your friend at his place when you set it up? I honestly would say becareful if you decide to use the board, many people say bad things happen, well 3 years of me using this board and i still havent had anything bad happen yet to me or my friends. As long as you believe that a spirit cannot harm you at all, and you know that your protected from them, and address that your not afraid of them and they cant do anything to you, then so long as you make it known, i believe they cannot harm you at all.

My experience with the board was such that I'm convinced the planchette was moving on it's own. However, my friend and I had our fingers gently resting on the planchette so someone who was watching the event could claim that it was we who made the thing move. I can tell you as one participating the thing seemed very definitely to have a life of its own. I know that IronGhost has pretty much owned on Ouija boards, but my feeling is still that it is not a toy and should not be messed with as such. I recommend a healthy caution and respect for that stuff after all of the negative stories I've heard.

yeah i hear the negative stories but some of the people who warn people of useing them, i ask have you owned one? used one more than just once? more than three times at least? investigated something with the use of it? provoked? i'm just curious because some i think havnt used one but know someone who has but hasnt touched one, i mean ya know?
i've stated like many times for three years i've used one/owned one i havnt had a negative experience yet.

maybe it's waiting to do it, i dont know, maybe i'm just lucky? *shrugs*

I never owned my own. My friend had one. This was way before I became a Christian. We used it a few times. We were amazed when the plachette began to move itself. It was like purposely moving, but not with so much force that we couldn't stop it. We eventually spoke to a spirit that had an "evil" feel to it. We started to become afraid (we were just kids) and when we asked who it was - it told us Billy the Kid. Some other stuff happend that made us afraid to use the board. I don't remember now, but I know that we stopped using it out of fear.

What do you think about it? Is it real? Are you really talking to the dead, or other types of entities? Has it ever helped you? Has it ever told you something that you couldn't have known otherwise?

i honestly believe it's real, because i've had times where i've used it with friends and each of us took a round of touching it lightly ourselves and it moved, we even had a time where it was moving with a lot of force on the board in circles we either pulled it off the board or pressed down as hard as we could to get it to stop. One time it again started making a circle on the board and it got so fast all of us lost our light touch to it that it moved across to the other side the board when we let go and stopped. now we havnt had it moving on it's own yet, which i still yet to see, but i have seen something move when i had asked it once to do something to a toy ferris wheel i made, i didnt get it on camera, i tried asking multiple times again and it never did it again.
It's made me feel more comfortable especially knowing my Grandfather who's always with me, he died one day before i was born, and since i can remember things i've always felt the sense of someone watching me when i grew up, and it's been my grandfather, only grandparent left living is my moms mom. I believe they are real but not toys and not ment to be taken lightly, i think that it's not just something evil comes out of or comes through, but i think it's a tool in which helps communicate. i'm trying to remember the first EVP device created that you could talk through to spirits and hear them. I believe you are talking to past spirits and other entities. i'll type more when i get home from school bells about to ring.

In order for this to work, you'd have to eliminate every outside influence like earthquake or construction which I don't think is possible. Say a large truck drives down the road and vibrates just enough for the planchette to move across the board? If you can't eliminate every outside influence, the experiment is flawed. Sorry, just throwing that in there.

You shouldn't play with quija boards they are dangerous!....JK, that is definitely weird, you should do it with a camera, I would be interested to see the results.

Thank you for all your input. To JPatt, the table is 5' x 3'. The planchette moved lengthwise across the table (roughly 5 feet). He has no animals (not even mice). He's allergic to most animals and it's a fairly new house. I'm still trying to figure out if there was any scientific evidence that would have caused it to move that far to the exact center of the board.

I really hope you can catch that on camera, that would be so great to really see that. That would also freak me out pretty bad too, lol.

Just curious Solarbite, not bashing on you or anything, have you had any experience with the Ouija board? again i'm just curious.

yah i'd be interested to see some footage if you catch anything on camera as well. I think i might try this experiment as well to see if i get some sort of similar result, i've got me a digital IR webcam i can feed onto my laptop or computer to see if anything moves or approaches it.

Is the table perfectly flat? Maybe it slid because of a slight slope. Those things are made to move VERY easily. I've tried them myself and saw the moved based on the slightest shaking of my hands (my hands naturally shake, but not too badly. I think its genetic)

It's flat enough to the point where if nothing touches it, it's not going THAT far. You also have to take into account the fact that the board is about 2mm thick. I don't see it just sliding that far and right into the center of the board based on a slight curve or slant in the table. Point well taken though.

what gets me is the way they sit, and the thickness of the board on the table, something would have had to cause it to hop onto the board because it just cant slide on there, it'll just constantly bang onto it, it could very well be though you might have something.
