A three-year-old Welsh boy slept through a lightning strike which blew a hole in his bedroom wall.

Elis Roberts's parents found him fast asleep in his room, which was covered in masonry, plaster and dust.

The lightning blew all the light bulbs and electrical equipment in the house and neighbouring homes as storms hit Flint, north Wales.

"We have been so very lucky," said his mother Pat Mulreay, "It could have been a lot worse." Ms Mulreay, who also has a one-year-old baby son Deryn, said she was nodding off when she heard a noise like "a massive explosion."

Initially, she could not make out what it was, and neighbours went out into the street.

It turned out that lightning had hit the gable end of her house and exploded breeze blocks in the wall, leaving a hole high up the wall of Elis' bedroom.

But they found him safe and well, and blissfully unaware of the drama going on around him. "He didn't even wake up," said his mother.

I've been known to sleep through 2 alarm clocks and even turn them off in my sleep, so I can relate to him!

That little guy must have played hard that day to sleep right through it...Fortunately he wasn't hurt. original.gif

One thread about a little boy that cannot sleep, another thread about a boy that can sleep through being struck by lightning ... oh, the irony.

I love storms too. And I envy that kid for being able to sleep that well - I think I might need something like Insomniacs Anonymous. (well, maybe not anonymous)

I just recieved an email about kids and sleeping through smoke alarms, but they'd wake to the recording of thier parents voice. I bet this kid heard the noise, but it didnt register as danger. I know my two younger ones will sleep through a train wreck, try getting those guys up, OY!

I have a three year old, as well. Hearing that he slept through a lightning strike, in a word..........shocking.(sorry, had to be done, and I was just the guy to do it)

Just glad nobody was hurt.

Wow, that's one helluva lucky kid. When my mom was a kid, her entire family slept through a tornado. They had no clue until they went to outside and found someone else's mobile home flipped.
