How can you NOT answer thsi with a stupid answer?!? Ok here's a realistic answer. what do I think vampires arent? hmmmmm I go with REAL!!!!!. I mean come on man i realize we talk about alot of way out stuff on these forums but in order to talk about what vampire arent we would have to understand what they ARE and folks minds are too clouded with the TV movie version to correctly do that. If someone one there is a REAL vampire show yourslef ! because i for one would love to live forever....just think of how much money i could make on the stock exchange !

Well is it true. If your going to believe in Vampires you might as well believe is those.

If you believe them to not exist than there is no reason to reply to this thread, that is not what I am intending.
The post asks to discuss what they are not, this alludes to the notion that you already accept that they do or may exist and therefore you would note your comments appropriately.

The you need to post something more believable. Plus this is a public forum.

Any way. What was the purpose of this thread? Vamps are NOT real about covers it. They are NOT people with a disease, they are not a race of humanoids, they are not supernatural critters that burn when splashed with holy-water or touched by crucifixes...they are not a lot of things.

WolfKnight, if you have nothing civil or constructive to contribute then please step away from the discussion.

As for the thread, I don't think you can really ask what vampires are not - it's too broad a question.

Fair enough, it probably is too broad of a question to strike up a good discussion, let me rephrase it.

For those of us who believe or are unsure in the existence of vampires (nonbelievers are most welcome to disprove any theories but it would be nice to have retorts with some substance and not just ridiculing comments).

I believe the vampire exists, I have met them and have experienced their abilities to drain the life force from you.
Anyone with experience in Reiki and other energy manipulating arts can easily see how a vampire works.
The energy centers / Chakras and this life force has been documented for centuries in many religions, Eastern religions being some of the most efficient at explaining this.
Upon a vampires 'awakening', their Chakra centers become damaged and they cannot retain the natural energy like we do.
They do however, have the ability to steal prana / life force from us.
There are evolved vampires that can use and stabilize this prana and manipulate it for metaphysical purposes

I'll stop here and see if anyone is interested in this topic so far

Otherwise you probably wouldn't know they were a vampire, they don't look any different than the rest of us, no fangs and such.

Edit: What you describe could probably better be labeled a parasite.

True, parasitic and predatory. Not necessarily positive traits I would say.
I'm afraid the only way I could truly prove this to anyone is if I brought you to a vampire and let you experience them draining your life force out of you . . . but that is not going to happen.

Living normally, in most ways I would say yes, but in many ways no as they are forced to live a much more complex life than most of us, one where the constant need to replenish their prana and find donors and strange stuff like that are necessary. Evolved vampires are naturally drawn to the occult and metaphysics and excel in these fields due to their ease of energy manipulation.

No disrespect intended, while interesting all conveniently unprovable.

I mean, if you could just prove the Life Force part, that would be a start.

I've been around people that sap my energy, yank my chain, increase my anger, but none of these people are vampires.

Did you ever see a martial artist destroy a brick or other structurally harder material than the hand? You'll notice the intense focus before this demonstration, what he/she is doing is gathering together their chi / ki / prana in order to use it.

I understand.

But, I've also seen people, just normally trained that have done the same thing. Mental focus isn't indicitive of a life force.

Is it the same as someones 'soul' (not saying I believe in that either, but am trying to come up with the concept)?

I do know that the Egyptians divide the soul into 5 parts, the soul and this life force would be connected in some way.
I wish to say at this point that I do not have all the answers and do appreciate the input.

So many religions and beliefs do seem to put an emphasize on that 'inner power'. Whether that is the soul, the chakra, or completely bogus, I don't know.

I do know however, that people that have no belief system are also capable of seemingly impossible feats.

So, whether the power is real, or it is the mind that makes it real would matter little.

Sort of like a placebo.

Respectfully, I have a theory here about your theory about what vampires are so I can hopefully in a round about way state what I think they are not. Heh. I hope everyone followed that. My theory involves semantics. I think that the word vampire itself has taken on the meaning of anyone/thing that drains the life out of someone else and leaves him or her somehow "less." Whether this is through energy (of all kinds and in any way you'd like to describe said energy/life force) or through blood, money, time, favors, general health, well-being, happiness, etc.

That said, I don't think people who drain others of energy are really vampires. They are called vampires for lack of a better term (semantics). These people who drain energy, I feel, would be much more appropriately called "energy feeders" because that is what they do. "Vampires" of course just sounds much more cool and sexy than "energy feeders."

To me, a "real" vampire would have to have once been a living human who has died and somehow come back to life, who has real fangs, and who lives forever without ageing.

Hopefuly this has answered your question with what I feel a vampire is not. On a more personal note I just want to say that I admire your courage and persistence in posting a new vampire thread when there are obviously so many people on here that can't abide the concept of discussing vampires like rational adults.

Honestly, if you're tired of "all the zillions of vampire threads" then why do you continually post on them just to bash people that WANT to talk about such things? Just DON'T READ the vampire threads! Then you won't have to worry about it! Hello! Common sense people! Sheesh.
