Well Zan to me it is saying:
In order to avoid the shipwreck - or lack of unity within this community one must--
be positive
be just (justice)
to be merciful, loving and humble as God would wish
In order to do this, the community needs to:
come together/ work together/ unify
love one another as brothers and sisters (anamoly)
not be superficial or basically lose the ego's and help other's before self
to unify in peace and love (not sexual)
to feel or acknowledge each other's issues or pain's and help one another
In doing this goodness among each other in the community:
God will be happy
bestow blessings
learn more about Hid good ways (God's)
resist enemies (meaning stop fighting within community/ bickering)
Other's will "look" to the City on the Hill out of respect for:
community togetherness
will speak highly of the city
will want to BE like that city
will want to be "Godly" like city
Therefore, he satates, that "they" must follow God's laws so that they can live and multipy on thie lad they possess (to go to pssess) and if the community does not follow the law's of God they will perish and it would be a waste to travel the Sea to get to this land.
