Hi, I am new to this, and I don't even know if this is the right place or not. But anyhoo, I am 30 years old, been married for 5 years, and have a 2 year old son. When I was 15 years old, I remember times when I was asleep and could hear someone speaking to me, touching me and pushing me off of whereever I would be sleeping. I never thought of this as a spirit, just something that I brushed off.
Now that WE have been living where we live, some things are getting more disturbing, My son has never slept all night, He wakes up around 3a.m. and screams. Sometimes I wake up around this time, right before he starts screaming. about a week ago I had my stove blow up on me. and two nights ago The MOST strangest thing happened to me. I was awake, I could hear everything around me, I tried to open my eyes and could not open them, I could not move my hand, it felt to me that something was holding me down. I also tried to speak, saying "help me" toward my husband, and could not even speak. When I was able to move, There was this weird feeling over my whole body, almost like little electrical shocks going through each of my nerves. after this experience the next day my husband was standing in front of his DVD player listening to a music video when all of a sudden the volume went from 20 all the way to 0. Am I crazy? Or is this something I need to be concerned about? I know I do feel something. And at one time I did have a gift of dreaming when someone was going to pass away, but that has been years. If anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated on my behalf

Sorry for the problems.

But it sounds like a combination of night terrors, sleep paralysis, and a faulty appliance (glad no one was hurt).
bankai26
the sleeping awake thing could definitly be sleep paralysis. the body tingle.. just like when you lay on your arm... same kinda thing... can't see many reasons why volume would turn up or down by itself except for faulty equipment... but that could be a stretch.
do you really have a reason to be scared? do you feel in danger or just freightened of the unknown kinda thing?

Welcome to UM Jody.
To be honest, the first thing most folks would do is tell you to see a medical professional about the sleep problems. You may be suffering from sleep paralysis, which is common. It sounds like you are experiencing some stress in your life which is all too familiar to me, and may trigger some of these problems.
Your son should sleep through the nite at age 2, or pretty close to it. I would recommend some research on how to adjust his schedule and get him sleeping through the nite. That would make you ALL feel better! thumbsup.gif
There are SOME folks here that will immediately recommend "cleansings" or "exorcisms", and say you have demons, ghosts or friggin hobbits in your home. I personally think you should investigate the mundane before you hire a priest or demonologist.

Wow, did not think anyone would respond so quickly.
No, I am not frightened at all. my concern was for my son. I really am intrigued by the whole notion of ghosts, and whatnot, but thank you for your reply.

Hi Jody, Welcome to UM..Its hard to say what is going on in your home, but sounds like the stove was not a paranormal issue, but faulty wiring maybe. I think some of the problems you suffer from are sleep paralysis..I posted a link for you to read. Let us know if any of this looks familiar to you to..JN

WARRIOR FOR THE LIGHT
Can you set up a camera in his room to go on at 3AM and see if you catch anything on video? Whats waking him up.....
Meantime it wouldnt hurt...You obviously feel its more than what it appears, and only you can tell, and know better. See what happens.

Best luck and Blessings ....

Welcome too!

Have you had anyother things happen to you aside from that?

My oldest son never slept well until he was about 5. (his reason is likely, now we know, due to ADHD, a mild form) But my reason for pointing it out is that there are thousands of reasons for kids' sleep disturbance. Probably your best bet is to talk to your son's pediatrician, if you haven't already. He would know far more about sleep disturbances than us on a message board and he'd probably have some good suggestions.

In the matter of "seeking the otherworldly" what I would suggest at this point is to merely sit back and observe and keep a journal. From what you've told us this far, I don't see anything that would alarm me.

You may be sensitive to this kind of stuff, and it may indeed be happening to you, but it may not be what's affecting your son. (or it may be!) but just rule out the sleeping issues first and let us know how it goes!

when i first read it, bout your son it could be just natrual occurance i thought cuase you know kids and they do have the tendancy to wake up at some time at night because what could be nightmares. The stove blow up i thought could be coincidence, your not being able to open your eyes and move and feeling the electrical nerve pulses, i thought could be something like Sleep Paralysis, but when you said bout the volume going from 20 to 0 instantly, that kinda got me, i've had a strange event before as well.
When i was going to bed i headed from my basement up my stairs, i turned right to head down the hall to my bed when behind me i heard my DVD player turn on and open up, i thought it could be a glitch or electrical surge, so i went to turn it off and headed back down the hall, i got to the basement door when i heard it click on and open up again. So i hurried to turn it off, at this point i started to freak out a little bit, so then i started to wlak away, almost as soon as i turn to walk away i get to the hall the DVD player turns on and opens up again. So i was paranoid and ran to turn it off and ran down the hall to my bedroom and jumped in bed, i had freaked out. Paranormal i'm not sure what i found odd is it did it three times....
have you had a similar repeated event of it turning down to 0 lately or anything else similar? if so you could have something trying to contact you, good or bad...
i'm not sure if you'd want to do this, Ouija board wouldnt be best way to go if you dont know what your doing. (dont no one be hating because i said Ouija Board tongue.gif), the way i would honestly go though is set up a video camera some where in your house where you have most activity, and set up a Digital Audio Recorder to see if you catch any anomolies that dont sound human or realistic.

*hate hate hate hate hate* Just playin'.

But yeah, like others have already said, set up a camera to see what you can see and let us know if there's something you think to be "paranormal"

^ That is sleep paralysis. It happens rarely to most people, and it happens just once or twice for some in a life time. I experienced the exact same thing 3 years ago, and I've never experienced it again. Google "Sleep Paralysis".

This is an example of what I was talking about. I honestly don't think it's time to break out the Ouija board. You would be asking for trouble, be it paranormal or psychological. Going this route, requires a belief in the paranormal, and the belief that you are having a paranormal experience, and the fact of the matter is, your experiences could easily be mundane.
Usually, the simplest answer IS the correct answer.

My humble opinion -

My daughter never slept all night. She used to wake up every night around the same time. Also screaming. After advice from our doctor, we changed her routine before bed. As for the screaming, at a very early age she learned that if she screams, some one comes running in. It took some work and patience but she eventually learned that if she did wake up (became rare) that unless something was wrong, she just lay in her bed and talked to her toys til she fell asleep again. So I would guess mostly sleep habit is why he wakes up. Check with your Dr.

Stove blowing up? Is it new? Is it old? Is it gas? I would say not paranormal. Just crappy accident.

I agree with the above, sleep paralysis. I've had it happen a few times. Really horrible creepy feeling but that is what it was.

DVD player getting loud? Does it have a remote? Did your area have a power surge?

We have a light/fan in our kitchen. You can tell when the battery in the remote is getting low. Light turns off and on and the fan will start and stop. Remote doesn't have to be pointing at it. Just in the room.

My opinion - natural occurences.

The EXACT same thing happened to me when i was younger, when you tried to wake, couldn't move couldn't speak and then the electrical shocks... mine felt like they went from my toes all the way to the top of my head, i would have sworn my hairs were all standing on end, but it was absolutely 100% sleep paralysis, it scared the heck out of me at the time, but upon further research i am positive that is what it is.

also my son often would wake at around 3am, mostly when he was going through a growth spurt, it could just be something with him growing or more molars coming in, i wouldnt worry too much about that, and you could be waking up right before it in anticipation because mommy's are amazingly intuitive when it comes to their kids.

with the exploding stove, and dvd player thing, i would honestly chalk that up to normal malfunctioning. but if you are truly upset, especially since you have a young son, maybe you should contact a local professional group to come in and do an investigation, i certainly can not hurt, and it may ease your mind. I am not sure where you live, but if i am close enough i could come out with my group and do an investigation, if not i can certainly refer you to someone who can. just make sure you NEVER PAY for someone to come out

Good luck
