While driving last summer with my friend down a country road in east central indiana. We came up to a old bridge which was blocked off it went over a pretty good size river about 2 miles from my home. Anyway as we went past about 30 feet we both saw a huge cat. Now I have seen Bobcats around this area and know what they look like, this was not a bobcat, are cougars in this are if anyone knows it was rather scary thinking that thing was out there so close to my house. Made me scared to go outside at night for a few days.

It was about the size of a large dog which I thought it was at first till we got close. It had a long tail light brown tan almost color I would say. Slender build not stocky but not thin. 70 or so pounds good size animal. My dad said he thinks it could have came down the river from the south but im really not sure.

At first I thought it was a large dog but as we drove closer I could see it was a cat it took off back towards the river by a farm as we pased. I know about 10 mins from the area a man has a pet black bear but it was not loose.

Count yourself lucky to have a sighting. A lot of people go out looking for cryptos and never see anything.

Something else funny, When I was younger I heard story's about how an Gator had been released in one of the local Reservoirs during the late spring. And it lived until it was found dead in the winter. I've heard it was a true story no one was attacked, but still crazy is it possible to survive in the warmed months in indiana???

I lived in north florida growing up and as I am sure you know there are alot of Gators, they manage to survive winters that get down into the teens, easily. So i am surprised the Gator in Indiana did not last longer than it did. . .

The water Froze I think that killed it.
