The pictures below were taken a few years ago. I was about 16 and of course, being that age, I felt such cravings to dig up the unknown and get kind of drunk while doing it. Somewhat of a weekly ritual for my idiotic abusive boyfriend, myself, and our friend to go out with a couple 40's and check out the place. It's this rundown and abandoned farm that you can't get to through public roads, only grown over paths that lead into the fields. This farm is right next to the Otis ANGB so it's tricky to hang out there nowadays. My boyfriend could very well have been trying to scare the CRAP out of me with the stories but about 3 weeks ago I took it upon myself for nostalgia's sake to go down to the town library and see if I could dig anything up.

LOCAL LEGEND & DRUNKEN TELL-ALLS:

In the early 1900's the farm was a working produce provider, vegetables and whatnot. Living there was an elderly farmer, a few of his workers, and his 6 year old epileptic granddaughter. One tragic day, the girl has a seizure while out playing and drowns in one of the rather large puddles (I have seen how deep these things get.. up to my mid-calf and I'm 5'6"!). Later the farmer finds her little diary and it's detailed account of her being molested by one of the workers. In a fit of rage and grief, the farmer find the worker and hangs him in one of the nearby barns and then takes a gun onto himself.

Tales of satanic cults, built on supposed Indian burial ground (wouldn't doubt it considering Cape Cod and its history with the Wampanoag tribe) and a goat's head -- that still hasn't decomposed -- in one of the stables.

MY NOTES FROM LIBRARY SOURCES (newspapers, etc):

A man named Robert Winds ran and owned the farm from 1922 - 1935. Indeed his granddaughter did live there as her parents were overseas. She was epileptic and she did die on the premises though I did not find the cause. Contrary to the tale the worker did NOT to anyone's knowledge molest her, but did commit suicide in one of the barns by hanging. History of depression, etc, very close to the young girl and didn't take it well. Robert Winds couldn't get his farm's reputation back after that so he sold the property to the town and it fell into disrepair.

These pictures are mega old (at least to me). We would explore all throughout the farm. Unfortunately the majority of the buildings had been vandalized, all but one.. no one had apparently touched it due to the growth of surrounding plant life. It is reportedly the one the worker hung himself in. There is no access to it during the summer, so lucky for us one fall we were drunk and stumbled inside. There is a door about 3ft up in the air, and a window that's about 10 inches off the floor. You peer out of it and it's this HUGE pit and we still don't know what it was used for. Personally, I always felt at ease here minus what felt like pressure on my chest once you entered the field, making it somewhat hard to breathe but the boyfriend and my friend would always say that they felt very uncomfortable, that something wanted them to leave. The little girl probably just wanted some estrogen around tongue.gif

Keep in mind that the temp was somewhat chilly, but no breath was visible and I've chalked up the majority of "orbs" to be dust.. but the mist is really creepy unsure.gif

Anyway, here ya go!

I've gone there alone only twice and once was during the day. I have no idea whether it's mist or ectoplasm but I will say that the feeling inside the barn was not one that I liked too much. I was fine in the house, actually felt like a playful feeling.. but the barn was just really sad to be in. We had had no knowledge of that being the place where the man had hung himself so now that I know that it's even more depressing sad.gif

Yeah. I too sense evil demonic spirits via the photo-bucket pics you posted. Better call a priest...
Looks like vapor to me, since it was cold and being on the Cape likely humid. I'm sure it was spooky though.

Forestdale is considered separate from Sandwich but they're essentially the same town.. Forestdale is where the farm is and the only bodies of water it is near are ponds (Wakeby, Snake, etc). It's possible that it's just vapor but the air around that place tells me otherwise wink2.gif

I have been to Sandwich many times, well mostly East Sandwich, and I had a funny feeling this was near there. Isn't Sandwich near the coast? Or is Forestdale more in to the center of the Cape?

Ectoplasm or myst? Either way I don't know what to make of it, that is if the barn is truely haunted. From what I understand spirits have been able to form out of a myst.It could also be that it is just simply myst and nothing else, but I would think that if it was that the person taking the pictures would have seen this with the naked eye and dismissed it as nothing more than a natural occurance.I have one set of photo's that show what might be ectoplasm, but the streaks are pretty solid and would not be confused as a myst.As to what it really is,anyones guess is as good as mine. One of these days when I am able to scan them, I will upload them and share.

Thanx for sharing the pictures. grin2.gif

It's headed more towards Marstons Mills & Centerville (if you know the Cape well). It's right off of Snake Pond Rd.

I lived at the ANGB for several years. I am familiar with the Cape. It's cold out judging by the clothes and its probably just that, vapor/breath.

Wow, thoose were some awesome pics!
As to what it could be, I have no clue.
I do know, a Nikon camera doesn't give you the best quality in pics
and if you breathe on the lens you will get specs. But, they would
show up in every photo, not just a couple, though. It was just a thought.
I'm no expert on photography, but I do know a couple of things.

Anyways, thanks so much for sharing your pics and your story with us!
I think it's awesome that you went back, and researched the place also.
Good Job! original.gif

I like the pictures. I think they're interesting. But I believe the mist is just that.
Mist. I don't think there is anything supernatural about it. It is good to know about
the background information you researched. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Yeah, I like seeing old places and pictures of them and learning about the history of a place. I also think this is mist. I need to get better with my own digital camera and find out on "heavy" nights if it can detect mist in the air before it becomes fully visible to the eye. Seems like if it can turn dust into these orbs, it may be able to do that, too, with water drops in the air *thinks*

You did good to add your research about the place and I enjoyed the story and pictures, Molly. Thanks.

I wouldn't doubt it if it were to be just mist or vapor but I will attest to the fact that the air around the land gives you the creeps even if you don't know the back story. It's an interesting place to walk around at night and during the day it is still just as unique.

Well, I'm not sure how they do it in the UK and I believe it varies from state to state here in the US.. but I just went to the town library and sifted through archives. In total I think it took about 8 hours to find out that much information. I looked over construction certificates, birth and death certificates, newspapers articles, literary sources, Who's Who books and whatever sources I could get my hands on.

I wish I could find the rest of my pictures! Far more chilling and I know I have at least 3 pages worth on one of my Photobuckets..

Ahh, I just have about 4-5 Photobuckets registered under various e-mails that I don't remember or don't recall the passwords to anymore wacko.gif
