Full Version: Dragons do not exist!

Really, dragons don't exist. At least not the hollywood version. Our myths and legends come from a time before Hollywood. Back then, something like a giant lizard or snake would have gained reputation in legends. We are beyond that now. I like dragon movies as much as the next person, but there is just no basis in science. Of course, cryptid animals don't get much attention from science, but dragons have had attention for thousands of years and there is no evidence that anything like the mythical Hollywood version of a dragon is flying around somewhere without being noticed. Can we just drop this one? Maybe i'm being prejudiced against dragons, but there really are more interesting cryptids to talk about.

Well ok but that won't help anything. I think

If you actually studied the original myths, and not modern fantasy nonsense, Razer, you would know that the dragons were NOT the Hollywoood monsters. On the contrary, they were some of mankind's earliest gods, quite possibly the first concept of gods were dragons. Mot of mankinds religions today, believed in still by the majority of humans, have dragon deities, though most worshippers are not even aware of this. And as creatures with apparent abilities man does not yet understand, yest they could be around even today, and the ARE the lake monsters, sea serpents, and yes, even flying pterosaurs, as those reported many times in Texas.

Living dragons would explain a huge segment of the cryptid animal sightings, in fact ALL of the large "prehistoric' size monster sightings, and as intelligent creatures, would explain how these creatures easily elude every attempt to prove their existence.

I agree, the later dragonslaying legends are ridiculous, but this has no bearing on the reality of dragons. It was merely foolish story tellers picking the most deadly living creature they knew to be the opponent of their story's hero.

And guess what? If the idea of living dragons is too disturbing for you, you don't have to read those threads. And instead of discussing mankind's oldest and most enduring cryptid, you can ponder complete nonsense like Chupies that we know are merely mangy dogs.

Apparently not if you're making threads about them...Kind of a double standard there.

But seeing how the last thread went I don't think any dragon threads are going to last long because they just end up going in circles.

But, again, a subject wont go away if you make threads about it =/
lil gremlin
Blatant attempt to start a flame war Razer, why make a thread about it?

You dont have to read about dragons here if you dont want to....why not stick to threads about things you are interested in?

I'm looking forward to DC's dragon blog.

Not to read it, for heaven's sake, but so that he'll devote time to the blog and give things here a much-needed rest.

Please DC. Give us a blog. It would help so much. No need to waste time posting. You are too brilliant for that. innocent.gif
Test Subject
At the very least, an extinct species of dragon similar but larger than the komodo that may or may not have been able to fly is likely.

Whoops! That was a monkey flying from my nether-region. Pardon me.
