the masons use this term also.....

"I Am that I Am," the Mason Proclaims

Equally blasphemous is that in the lecture on the seventh, or Royal Arch Degree, of
the York Rite, the Mason initiated is asked the question, "Are you a Royal Arch
Mason?" His answer is required to be: "I am that I am."8

In other words, in this degree's ritual the Mason has not only acknowledged that
the devil, in the guise of Jahbuhlun, is his sacred Lord, but he now is declaring that
he, himself, a mere man, is the great I am! In other words, he is saying, "I am God

and u also have "ego Emis"...

I sort of think this should have been left in the 'Spirituality, Religion and Beliefs' forum for if even it seems secular on first glance it is focused solely on Yahweh and how He revealed Himself as the great 'I AM' and 'I AM that I AM' then comparing them to other forms of 'I am' in the historical and modern sense. I do request it is moved back to the more appropriate forum but in no way will tell a moderator what to do, merely a request and an opinion.

I too have always thought about how many other sources use this 'I am' in their presentation or core of belief. Be it blatant public advertisement or the more esoteric forms of belief or knowledge.

Do I believe all are attempting to emulate or even replace God? No. Do I believe some are consciously choosing this word because of its potentially perceived power and attempting to emulate God? Yes. It is just hard to tell from a brief knowledge of things which are mere coincidence and which are intentional.

I am interested in this topic and the thoughts of others because the 'I am' is every pervasive in society from the opening lyrics of Anarchy in the UK to the pet food Iams, which always makes me think of this, but is is only a last name of the founder of a company lol

I Yam What I Yam
Lyrics from the soundtrack album. May vary from lyrics in film.

[spoken]
You don't have to be no fish to tell when you're flounderin'
What am I? Some kind of barnacles on the dinghy of life?
I ain't no doctors but I knows when I'm losin' me patiensk
What am I? Some kind of judge, or a lawyers?
Aw, maybe not; but I knows what laws suits me
So what am I? I ain't no physciscisk, but I knows what matters
What am I? I'm Popeye, the sailor

[sung]
And I yam what I yam what I yam and I yam what I yam and that's all that I yam 'cause I yam what I yam

And I gots a lot of muskle and I only gots one eye
And I never hurts nobodys and I'll never tell a lie
Tops to me bottoms and me bottoms to me top
And that's the way it is 'till the day that I drop
What am I?
I yam what I yam!

I yam what I yam what I yam what I yam what I yam

I can open up an ockean I can take a lot of sail
I can lose a lot of waters and I'll never have to bail
I can pushk up Madagascar grab a whale by the tail
What am I?
What am I?
I yam what I yam!

I'm Popeye, the sailor
I'm Popeye, the sailor
I'm Popeye, the sailor
I yam what I yam and that's all that I yam
I yam what I yam what I yam what I yam
I'm Popeye the sailor man!

Not true, If I say Iam the first Created spirit Of God (Heavenly Father and Mother), and Iam, your unbelief is the thing which means nothing, For Iam that iam, and your unbelief can not change this.
Or If I say I have incarnated on this world 11 times and I have, Your unbelief means nothing.

What is this doing in off topic anyway? It belongs in spirituality and beliefs , or spirit vs skeptics.

Well, you may be, but rest assured that I am NOT.

If I say that I Am it is only a statement that I exist. that in and of itself is powerful enough. I'm not saying that i'm God or anything else for that matter. There is no conspiracy there. Others can use that statement however they wish, for it has nothing to do with me.

I was reading a book about different world religions a while back and noted that the the mantra "OM"
is Sanscrit (or some such language) meaning "I AM". If any one knows more specifically, please say.

In certain sunday school classes, I was taught that "I AM that I AM" means: 1. That God is eternal
2. That whatever you need God to be (such as a healer, protecter or deliverer) God is THAT.

Jesus taught that "The Kingdom of God is within you" and ..."ye are gods".

Perhaps our self awareness is "God.. within" us. Maybe the resources of God are at our disposal
so whatever we need, God is THAT for us.

What if all the world religions were like the 3 blind men all touching different parts of an elephant
and so describing their contacts from their point of view. If they all heard the vocalization of the elephant,
they could agree on that point. May be "I AM" is the point of agreement, the one consistent description of
God and the revelation of who we are - made in God's image.

If I say "I AM", it does not threaten God or usurp his/her/its place. I think it speaks of who we are and
where we come from beyond our physical form.

NO disrespect of Judaism, Christianity or any other mode/system of faith is intended here.
