Last Friday night, Oct. 4th, I was staying in a house that my sister is renting, and i had lived there for a brief period last month with no problems. I went back to visit with my friend and as we were going to bed she said she felt like there was pressure in the room.  It is a very old house built 173 years ago that used to protect slaves, and there were a few reports by friends and family of us of footsteps being heard from time to time.  I think there is the possibility something is there.
That night, as i was trying to go to sleep, i had a bad case of the chills. They didn't feel like the average cold chills, it felt more like electrical chills running through my arms and legs. I felt very uncomfortable and wasn't sure i could sleep. i tried, only to jolt back awake. The chills were getting stronger and seemed to be traveling up my body with greater intensity as i tried to shake them off. The electrical chills shot upwards into my head and i tried to cry out to my friend who was asleep next to me. But my voice was cut off, and my body became completely paralyzed. I was terrified and was screaming silently for something to leave me alone, get off, trying to kick my leg or move at all. I think perhaps a minute passed and it was gone in a second. i still had faint chills after it happened. I went downstairs to the bathroom approximately ten minutes later to try to regain a sense of normalcy and to relax. I came back up to the room and stayed awake the rest of the night in fear, afraid to surrender to sleep. The next morning my friend told me the strangest thing happened to her that night.  She said she was having a conversation with me, and i was replying back to her. She felt the need to turn to look at me only to discover i was not even in the room with her.
I have tried looking for explanations, thinking it was a seizure or a panic attack.  i even looked up possession but there is very little information available. Does anyone think it's possible something tried to take over my body and i fought it off?

Sounds like a short burst of sleep paralysis to me, where the body shuts down so you can't move or cry out, so it does not hurt itself when acting out dreams.

I am still here kinesis, and i'd like to hear your story. I have been studying the subject and I believe it was either sleep paralysis, which i had never heard of before, or an attempted possession. But i had the feeling i wasn't alone and I was trying to fight something off. I had the feeling that something else was involved but it seems the circumstances are very rare in my case. so i have no conclusion yet and maybe i will never know.

Fabluco:

From what i can tell from the details you have given me it actually seems like you were experiencing the projection exit from your physical body. [ie: the beginning part of oobe experience]

The chills were typical of energy being directed from your base chakra to your crown chakra in what looks like a forceful attempt by something to promote an oobe. Another theory is that something was, rom a slightly higher octave above the physical, where your energy body lingers...was moving inside your body, up your spine all the while activating your energy body and causing you to lose senseof your physical body....By this i mean it looks like something in that house was attempting to knock you out of your body. Why it wanted to do this i dont know...of course, if you get this often then maybe it was just a coincidence.

The fact that your friend heard you speak could be the mind-split phenomenon. I doubt you've heard about this...but at its simplest, i can explain it like this: When we leave our bodies, another version of our mind, ie: us...is created...copied and transferred into the other dimensional body...then if the memories are strong enough..when that dimensional body returns, then those memories over-ride our base copy memories...ie: the memories that are housed in the physical. This is just a simple explanation of this theory...but ya get the jist.

I'm probably wrong here..but when you were getting those chills...do you think you were in that other diemnsional body? If this is the case...your physical self may still have been communciating as normal and may have had no knowledge of what was occuring

Hope that helps :s3

The exact same thing hapeened to me. All of the feelings you were having are the same that I had had in my experience. The only differents is that I felt something was trying to lift me off the bed. I remember hearing all the activity going on around me since this occurred during the day. I could hear the people outside and the TV. I just couldn't wake myself and I had a feeling of great fear but I didn't know what I was fearing. I started asking God to please help me. The second I thought the words " God please help me " I felt my body hit the bed as if I was levitating above it and I woke up feeling completly normal with know scense of fear anymore. Strange I know but true.

huh.gif Well having read your collective experiences I definately feel that you are experiencing sleep paralysis - an increased level of dopamine in the thalamus region of the brain that is responsible for the dream states we experience when asleep. Sometimes, when exhausted, drunk, stoned or after having eaten a lot (particularly cheese or chocolate believe it or not) we can experience OOBs or strange lights or what ever to make us believe that it is a paranormal experience. Actually, it is a very common phenomenon - how many of us have been just drowsing about to fall asleep and you suddenly hear your name being called by someone close to you (a parent or a partner's voice for instance?) even though it is not possible for this to have occurred. Or the sudden experience of "falling" back into bed as if from some height? These are common sleep paralysis experiences Fabluco has experienced. Revel in them, but perhaps cut back on the late night cheese and wine!

I've actually experienced this a number of times, but never really thought anything of it. I had no idea it was related to sleep paralysis - certainly a very strange sensation.

Welcome to the forum by the way, Lochness. rolleyes.gif

I live just down the road from your namesake. cool.gif

You might be right Fabluco ... But still you have to find out what is the truth of this mistury ... Well as i think .... Maybe it was just a dream .... Or something .. I know that your friend felt the same thing ... but you may have been very tired and started to imagine things ... or .... maybe you were thinking of ghosts since the house was very old ... and you thought that they we there and they attacted you???
but please do not worry i hope that you will find a way to figure this out .. I wish you Luck

Hey the cold shivers and trembling is what it feels like when a demon spirit is trying
to possess your body. I know this because I was demon possessed before and
You experienced some of the exact things but you are lucky that it did not get worse...

I know that I know, that I know...

"There are some things I believe; then there
are some things that I flat out know!"
"I knew it going in, just as clear as I knew it going out!" Thats why when I talk about what I know, people listen, and believe me, because
theres no avoiding a true honest spirit...
I know 2 things by personal experience.
number one, I unfortunately know what it feels
like to get possessed by a demon (momentarily)
I mean I don't think I was, my God, I flat out know I was, and never again, thats all i gotta say.

My middle sister used to complain about this all the time when she was a teenager. She has recognized it as being OBE now and it still happens to her about 2 to 3 times a month. Compared to when she was a kid it was happening almost everynight. Except now it is more controlled and she is able to recognize when this is happening and have fun w/the experience.
My Mom is also able to do this - although she doesn't do it very often. It does ware out the body and makes you feel like you have had NO SLEEP.
I have done it a couple of times but it usually happens when I'm extremely tired, in the mid summer when it's really hot and I'm naked and don't have any covers on me.
Very cool that you can do this. You would know if something was possessing you. There would be a time frame that you couldn't account for and everyone else would be telling you what strange things you did. Don't get upset or worried over it. Get some books and learn how to critique your talent!! Plz don't hesistate to email me and I will get my sis to talk to you.
Take care,
