Wasn't aware the sacrifices and deaths of so many to give us so much was just a holiday to get drunk and grill... Aside from those parts I'll be heading over to city hall for the service.
well my grandpa , who flew during WW2 with the CRAF , would be upset if someone took his BBQ ribs ......
no one takes Uncle Bobs beer from him and he served as a tunnel rat in Vietnam ( till an explosion left him deaf in his left ear and just plain crazy ) .
Don't know what my sister in laws brother is bringing or my (half) sisters cousin who both served in Iraq . And at noon today my niece picked up her finance for his 4 day pass before being sent to Texas then Afghanistan.
I'm sure they are alright with it.
ps - only me and Gran are having the quiet evening with BBQ ribs since the ride up north is too much for her anymore for the holiday. celebrate their sacrifices. don't mourn them.
It's like a wake. all sad , depressed. we feel that way for our loss instead of happy the person is somewhere better. very selfish really. When I die I hope they would have a celebration of life !
I'm sure those that have died for their countries - no matter which . would feel the same. celebrate life and hope we don't need any more sacrifices. That doesn't mean we forget.
