With greater media coverage, we are all becoming increasingly aware of the extraordinarily destructive power of natural disasters.

Fortunately for most, the television or newspaper is as close as we will get to these life-threatening events.

But is it possible for a disaster to terrorise the whole planet? Could a super volcano kill people on the other side of the planet? Is the destructive force of a mega-tsunami or a cataclysmic earthquake enough to rock the world? What would happen if a giant asteroid hit Earth? And is climate change actually taking place?


Giant asteroid impact

Collision with an asteroid 1-1.5 kilometres in diameter could result in the deaths of a quarter of the world's population.

Volcanic super-eruption

I don't agree that Global Warming is destroying the planet... The planet has changed temperature several times in the past and Earth and it's life is still here. It will be a big change but not something that will destroy everything.

The biggest threat is human agression/invention. A new weapon, a new virus stuff like that. Nature will not destroy the planet, only humans are capable of that..

By the way, Global Warming isn't caused by humans.. Pollution is.

Most likely man will end his existence himself. Maybe nuclear war. The alien thing will be good but I doubt they will kill us all maybe just make us a colony.

Maybe it will happen like in terminator and our own technology will turn against us.
