I'm sure many here have heard of the atom smasher or RHIC " Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider "
I was reading the news paper and they wrote how they were going to be doing some testing probably this June. Some were going agaisnt the idea it should be used because of strangelets. They say Strangelets will gobble everything up, like a black hole, and add onto its mass devouring everything. I guess this could be labled as another end of the universe thread. Many people calm it could happen but many physicists just call it plain science fiction, physicists like Machio Kaku also said no one needn't worry because nothing will happen.

What are your thoughts on this matter?

( pardon the types and bad sentence structure. )

Yes.Well the RHIC uses only a minute amount of atoms in the tests. The mass of the reaction on collision is not enough to cause these Strangelets or small black holes. That scenario is only found in SCI-FI movies.

There seems to be alot of hype about this with activists trying to shut the project down, almost seems creepy in a way.

My friend was explaining this to me in the car the other day. I find it rather strange that they are just going ahead and doing this, lol.
