So I moved into a older house that my grandmother has owned for the last 30 or so years. well the other night i awoke to see a strange mist or fog like object in the corner of the room close to the celling. after i woke up my dog started to bark in the direction of the mist at the same time it vanished. i dont know if i saw a spirit or if i was dreaming and that i saw something i was dreaming about.

Is it possible you have a scary basement in your house, you could have an indian burial site under there. I would call a catholic church or something to send over an exorcist to investigate there. Try to get a any pics that you can. You can also get garlic and silver bullets to be cautious. keep me updated!

Well, it hasn't made to harm you in anyway, has it? I'd say just leave it be and it'll do similar for you. (It works the same with me-- we have a ghost in our place that we think is the previous home owner)

Try and snap some pics around the house, (preferably when u are alone) also leave a tape recorder running when u are not home and see if you can catch anything. Sounds interesting!

I agree with taking some pics . it could be that your dogs were reacting to you . My dogs will often react to my reactions to events rather than the events themselves.

Chances are it was your eyes playing tricks on you . it often happens when the room is dark . I see all sorts in my room when its darlk . darker areas that some will have you believe are masses . shadows here and there that some would say are ghosts etc etc . it all turns out to be nothing more than tricks of the light (or lack thereof though) . but if you are really worried set up a camera (video camera would be best if you have one handy) and see if you catch anything. it might put your mind at rest or if you do capture something then you will have it logged and be able to get a better understanding of just what it is .

Well i think all of these are good ideas! have you tried calling on this spirit, maybe there is something that you can do for it. Dont do anything to crazy though. Have some friends do it with you so your not alone.

lately I haven't seen anything in the house that resembles what I saw that night. My dog still barks for no apparent reason at times, i think she may be hearing something outside (I hope). Also the only thing to my knowledge that is buried outside on the lot is a Chinchilla that a friend brought over. I may try to take some pictures at night around the same time i saw it last time, maybe i will get something.

Unless this is something that starts to happen regularly, you may never get to the bottom of it. It's likely it was just something passing by

So, you don't even know you were awake when you saw this mist? If this is one time thing, then I don't see the harm of it.. It could've been a dream.

Yes, I agree.

However...if it does start to occur on a daily basis, it would be best to look further into it. You may have seen something, but chances are you didn't. If things do turn sour, you should go ahead and.....

• Get a Tape Recorder, non-digital works.
• A notebook to write down your experiences. Keep it detailed so you can look back on it. Like time of sightings...etc.
• Be sure to keep on the lights. It could be spooky.
• A Camera of course. That would be for when you are certain of something is there.

When I first moved into the house I live in now I too saw a mist like this.
It was black and looked to sport two red glowing objects in it.
I don't see 'mist' as being bad and maybe it was a curious spirit or something.
It wasn't able to disappear fast enough because it hasn't seen your sleeping habits and how it knows before you awake.
But I think it might just be a curious spirit lurking around.
It usually never matters if a house is old or new, it depends on what happened there before or after the house was built.
I say don't freak out about it to much, unless weird things happen each day.
And animals just have better eyes and ears than we do, so they could see something or hear something, but a chance of it being a spirit or something of the sort is sometimes rare.
