ok how is locke dead.... suggestions...
__Kratos__
By the ending, it said he left the island and the island is what cured him in the first place. I suspect complications due to leaving the island right now.
InHuman
Put up spoiler tags guys. Jesus christ.

I'm 10 minutes from the second hour. So far its been a huge dissapointment. Just like this season was.

Why dosn't Sayid help with the bomb?

Not even bedtime kate or buisnesswomen sun can save this game...

Yes, this season was painfully slow compared to the others. hmm.gif

LucidElement

Maybe but as the other guys said it was a highly complexed bomb with different boobytraps wired into it.

Well the people there can leave and come back as they like, as what was said a few seasons ago when we first started learning about them. Locke as their leader would have access to that infomation as well then.

I don't think the question is how he got off though. The massive question to me is "why did he leave the island?!". Locke was deeply connected with the island and was set on staying there.

It's not the past, it's the future we're looking into during that scene.

I don't know which episode but I know it wasn't Locke in the coffin then.

Jeremy Bentham is Locke it would seem pretty much. Probably a cover name for Locke when he left the island?

Yeah he went there, couldn't bear to do it in public (sorta) and came back later for a more informal meeting.

Whurs desmond? He practically carried most of the past few seasons. (the 3 new guys carried this one).

Yeah, that's it.

I don't think he can be really revealed for the storyline because they're all lying to keep the others and themselves safe. He might pop up again with Penny though because of her father.
Asphodel
What do you mean? Desmond was on the boat with Sayid most of this season, and had a very happy ending on the finale.

Ah, nevermind. I was thinking wrong. I'm also guessing he'll be with Penny and will pop up eventually next season, especially since it seems like Mr. Widmore will be a greater character.
GabrielArkAngel
Okay, with this finale, I realized something... Member that episode with that chick from the boat, wahtsername? She was with that squirrely scientist, Daniel, and the other two in the helicopter, Naomi, and the Ghostbuster? Well anyways, In the episode I was talkin' bout it seems she found a polar bear skeleton in the desert. Ben woke up in the desert with that jacket he was wearing on. My theory is, anyone who relocates the island is teleported off, into that desert. Hence the polar bears being there do to DHARMA's experiment's with exotic matter. So Locke, to get off would have had to relocate the island right?
LucidElement
but didnt ben relocate it......because locke was sitting there with the others when the bright light happened.. unless he moved it againnnnn???? but why would he die?? good theory on polar bears.. but i dont understand how the polar bears would be on that desert, since the polar bears cant move the island.
Homer
Keep in mind that when we seen Locke in the coffin, according to Kate's earlier statement in the same episode, is about 3 years later. Who knows what could have happened since then.
darkmoonlady
Great finale only beef was the idea that the signal from that guys arm band could make it (mind you on an island FULL of EM interference) all the way underground, to the boat. That was just kind of silly to me...
InHuman
Does Sun blame Jack or Widmore?

Jack said something about it during his talk with Ben, but I doubt Sun would be all friendly to someone who sent mercenarys to kill her...
jpalz
And now entering the realm of the REAL conspiracy theories....

What if Locke faked his death just so that Jack would get that urge to go back to the island? huh.gif

Mabey he'll come back to life (in the same way jack/claires dad was alive).. ocne they reach the izland.

Btw, what happaned to daniel faraday and the ppl on the boat (plus those who fled from the freighter) did they move with the island?
LucidElement
ya what did happen to um?? but how would locke be layin in a casket fakin it.
Chokmah
QUOTE (LucidElement @ May 30 2008, 09:19 AM) *
but why would he die??

If you watched the episode... Sayid explains that he was killed by Windermere's people. He doesn't say Locke, he states his codename.

---

I heard there was another alterante ending, with Kate being in the casket?

As for the people in the raft, from the ship, they'd have been stranded also, being so far from the island. Lucky for Sawyer, he was close to the island when it shifted in time / and or space.

Lol, I also liked the reference to when Saywer came out the water, it was the same scene as when Kate saw Sawyer come out of the water after a swim. Same dialogue and stuff.
GabrielArkAngel
Why would Jack cry at Locke's funeral?

Cause Jack's a whiny lil A-hole...

Or mabey its because he finally figured out that Locke was right.
LucidElement
alternate ending was, saywer and sayid in casket...which ending are they gunna stick with..apprently the one with locke in the casket eh??? i guess it dosent matter if the other two were in cause they wouldnt bother explaining that one, if they didnt use it correct?

I reckon, in season 5;

"Suddenly, Jack woke up from his appendix operation..."

does anyone think that chinese dude, the head of dharma is still alive?

He probably leaves the same way as Benjamen Linus did. Why? Well according to Jack everyone had to be there for something; and Locke had told the others not to go. He probably left because he needed to bring them all back. Probably upon returning, Locke will most likely be alive again......leaving in the first place is probably what did him in. Unless its a paralell universe and only one locke is dead lol

I am surprised so many were unhappy with this season. I absolutely love it. I thought the flash forwards were great, only deepening the mystery.

Nah, well...

He's probably like. 70 now.
GabrielArkAngel
Could he possibly be Sun's father?
Asphodel
The Dharma guy as Sun's father? But we know who Sun's father is and what he looks like. Maybe I'm lost, no pun intended.

same here. It was season 3 that i found to go slowly. season 4, to me, actually revealed a lot. I mean, before season 4, we had no idea about any kind of time disturbance dealing with the island.
kreestar
Oh gosh. Lost is one of the most most confusing and infuriating shows out there, and I absolutely love it.
I would say that Locke is in the coffin because he was probably killed somehow when he was doing errands off the island. We know Ben went off the island for various reasons, so why wouldn't Locke have to do the same?
I'm still waiting for an answer to that giant four toed statue!

Just as a personal point of interest, anyone posting spoilers, it would be courteous to put spoiler tags around their comment. This can be done as follows:

CODE
[spoiler]This is the spoiler[/spoiler]

I know most of you have done this, and thank you to those people. However, some have not, and though there's no rule saying you can't, it's still courtesy to do so. Even with the word "spoiler" in the thread title (and let's face it, it's pretty obvious), it still is a good idea to use the spoiler tags, just in case someone wants to look at general discussion of the topic but doesn't want to get hit front on by a truck with a major plot-line development.

All the best,

Oh, as an aside, I'm just awaiting the final three episodes of the season (which appear to be one continuous story line). I'll share my thoughts on the "spoiler" afterwards.
