Because if they were close up it would be obvious that they were nothing out of the ordinary. The fact that they ARE always in the distance should be a big clue that there is nothing unusual going on.

If you start with the question "what is it?" (as this video does) then you clearly don't know what you are looking at. If you don't know what you are looking at you can not claim it is anomalous.
A very silly video employing a silly lack of logic, but there are enough credulous people out there to fail for this sort of thing and claim it is yet more evidence that NASA is covering up alien technology on Mars.
