Wow, he's the smartest clergyman I've ever heard. It's a fresh change from all these rapture obsessed preachers.
I just wiki'ed him. He rejects traditional theism, he called the virgin birth impossible and says the miracles in the new testament should be rethought. The way he describes Christ is more like a buddha than the messiah. He sounds like a cultural christian and a deist rather than an actual christian.
Exactly! I totally had no problem with this guy while listening to that! I even went on youtube and watched some more videos of him speaking about Christianity, and the only thing I have to say is that I'm speechless. He has to be the most humble theist I've ever heard of. And even though he believes in a supernatural god of some sort, he explains it all in a way people can accept. He outright rejects the god of the bible, that psychopath. He doesn't maintain that his god absolutely exist, he maintains that if a "god" of some sort does exist, it's nothing like what's described in ANY holy book, rather that god would be something above all of those gods morally.
Like said, he does sound like a deist because he doesnt maintain that god absolutely exist, being dogmatic, but he leaves the possibility open for himself being wrong. And that's something I just quite haven't ran into when encountering theist.
