So I put my laptop into hibernation--it goes into hibernation, I am completely and utterly sure--and during the night at some point it comes out of it while the top is still down. Is that normal? D:! There is absolutely no reason for it to be doing that, no one comes up here and messes with it, and there isn't anything running on it that would cause it to come back on. It gets way too hot when it does that, so should I just turn it off? :/

There's been a lot of other things going on with it too, that I just can't figure out. My virus scan (AVG) isn't finding ANY problems, so there's no reason for this behavior to my knowledge. I haven't installed anything other than WinTV and another version of photoshop, but it was fine until two days ago--way after those were added.

And yesterday my WinTV crapped out on me. o_o The screen goes white and it says there's a problem with the connection, despite the fact that I have changed nothing with it and it was working PERFECT the day before.

NOW my internet is slowing way down. Youtube won't even load, and my proboards site takes an age and a half to come up. Neopets takes its sweet time, and it's just... why is all of this happening? U-M seems to be the only site that loads normally anymore.

Do you defragment the disk at least once per week?

What's your Laptop's OS and manufacturer.

Do online scans with Trend Micro's House Call I suggest 6.5 if your download speed is slow too.

More help is available here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/index.php

EDIT: Hibernation has a good ability:

If you remove all the power (battery and AC), the computer would still not lose it's data, because the contents of the RAM are written onto the Hard Disk, and then removed after you log back in.

I defrag as often as I remember, and just this week I ran it twice.

Vista, and I have an HP Pavilion dv9000.

I actually downloaded another antivirus that is supposed to be better at finding things than AVG--ClamWin--and that found a few things I wasn't aware of. I cleaned those up, but it still hasn't really helped... sad.gif I'll try the one you posted, Star, thanks.

I had Win98 and now WinXP and still have problems with hibernation. I know there is advice out there on it ........ lol just too lazy to do anything about it at the moment ... just not that critical to me.
