Hello , I had started a topic on JJbreen....Many here new/know him ,and I had heard what I thought was concerning news.I posted asking if anyone new how he was...Many started posting their best wish's , and prayers...( God Bless You all who care )..I enjoy reading forums , and occasionally posting my feelings...I have heard " rumors" of people being banned , or suspended for posting what admins feel in- appropriate , but in actuality are not bad posts...What I have seen with the JJ post , yes he is no longer here , is Uber posted JJ is ok....Than admins shut down the topic...In my opinion , this is very harsh....I have no idea what happened , and frankly , not my business...Uber's membership has been suspended until something like 2011????....I am a little concerned about a public forum where people seem so " censored"....Meaning , when it comes to a personal conflict with a member no longer being here....I do not understand why someone would be banned , or suspended for talking about someones health?...That is just wrong in my book , on a forum where friends are made....
This is more for the admins to answer , and also will see if I am able to still frequent the forums after this....If not , I hope others see what I am saying...It bothers me to find a good place to chat , but yet get banned/suspened for someone elses battles?...I for one would like to know people care about me that I have talked with , even if it meant coming from someone else...( i.e. , uber letting JJ know so and so sends there best wish's).....Anyway , wondering why that topic was closed because " since we know jj is alive "...And why Uber was suspended until 2011?.....I truly hope I do not get banned/suspended for this , I enjoy coming here , but truly want a democratic/free speech forum , where people are warned and contacted by admins with a warning , that is understandable before being banned/suspended....To make a great forum , you need to let people feel free to say things , yes to a point...But remember friends are made here , and just banning someone because your feelings were hurt , or a battle is not good.....

Hopefully still here after this , just wanting some feedback...I would think the admins would want feedback to make forums a better place for all...If you do not see me , you know what happened....I will leave it at that...

God Bless !

I'm not going to speak about what the mods/admin may have done in that thread, but I would point out we /don't/ have unlimited free speech at UM. We all agreed to abide by the terms of service set forth by Saru, some of which limit what gets said here. He went to the trouble to set this place up and continues, with the mods, to keep it lively and running well. He gets to choose the rules. I'm not sure bewailing that fact accomplishes much.

I understand , it is just that I am in a sim racing league , and we are like a family...Our website/forums allways keeps us updated on past/present members , especially health wise...That is what I mean , health , how is he/she...Just seems wrong to me...
Belle.
Sometimes if they find out that a 'new poster' is really an 'old poster' who was banned........they will shut the account down. original.gif

I am not sure in this specific case though.........

I am confused , I new of jj from a friend , we met on yahoo , i joined here after hearing about this site?....My point still , how many people trully feel caring about a member/ex member enough to ask about him/her is enough to get banned/suspended?....

Being able to post here is a privilege, not a right. As I see the thread served it's purpose and there was little reason to keep it going once it was answered. So given that as well not sure what you're complaining about.

You should be thankful because UM is one of the most open minded and free going forums I've been on.

Though since I'm here I'll post this bit quick to...

5c. Appeal: If you disagree with action taken against your account by a member of staff you can appeal the decision by contacting either the member of staff who took said action or an administrator privately via e-mail or through our private message system. Do not start threads on the forum questioning or criticising moderator action.

Yes , but , not complaining , trying to get a "feel" for this...I am talking feelings , not personall isuues....I know of a few members who would have liked to be here , and wrote numerous emails on a " appeal" , in a very adult text...No repiles , or anything....That is why I am asking....Seems that it is " one and your done".....Just not used to " public forums" being this way....

You do not have the full story. It has nothing to do with free speech. It has everything to do with folks who are not forthright to try and get what they want. There is a history there that you have no idea about and we made a decision based on that history and were well within our rights to do so.

People are not going to be unbanned when they use lies and trickery to try and do so.

Let the topic drop please.
