IF I were to say, clone myself or any other human, would the clone be like like the person it was cloned from? Would the clone think, behave, and act the same way as the person from whom it was cloned from? I think yes...but what does everyone else think?
EDIT: The description under the title is supposed to say Different of the Same. Not Different of the Same.

Genetically they would be the same, however as we grow and have different experiences different neural pathways develope. For example, if 2 clones were raised differently, say one in a loving caring family, and another in a cruel abusive family they may still look the same as adults, but they would be very different people.

I would like to see this experiment done. Not with an abusive family, but maybe an upper class vs lower class situation. I've read stories of twins separated from birth meeting 20-50 years later, and although they are different people, they have very strange similarities(such as gestures, habits and favorites things). That leads me to believe that people are biology pushed towards a certain personality, but life experiences are have a stronger impact.

Do identical twins have the exact same persona?
Nope. Same with a clone.
All a clone is, is an object having the exact same makeup/genetic makeup as it's other. That's all, nothing else.

I have to say no.
Unless a clone was made at the moment of conception, then one would be older then the other, and thus their life experiences would be different. A clone of an adult human would grow up in a completely different culture then their "parent" and thus would be completely different in their personality.
It would be interesting, if unethical, to do such an experiment, with a child raised in isolation by a robot, then cloned and the clone raised in the exact same environment. Then it might be possible to determine if such things as being an alcoholic, gay or a criminal are genetic or just lifestyle choices. Being so unethical to human life, I do not see such an experiment ever being done in the Western World.

THAT is an interesting experiment!

A clone would basically be the same thing as an identical twin, so that if I cloned myself, I would essentially have an identical twin who is 21 years younger than me. More interesting, perhaps, is that cloning offers the ultimate in terms of genetic immortality (which underlies reproduction). Why settle for having only 50% of your genes in your offspring, when you can simply recreate yourself genetically speaking?

Human cloneing is actualy illigeal around the world but it can be done.
Only the USA has rights to clone humans.

Actually throughout the world cloning human embryos is entirely legal. For absurd reasons though, those clones have to be killed before implantation. Preposterous.
Anyways, clones are just delayed identical twins. They also have various EPIGENETIC differences, somewhat more than those identical twins have - the rates at which their various genes are expressed vary.

I personally think cloning offers some great advantages for health care science if you can look past the moral leap it takes to accept a "factory" of human body parts.
Disadvantages if you like peace has a longer list though.

the way i see it is, humans are supid. we can reproduces easyly for most people, yet we are thinking of cloning, have we got that gosh dang lazy?

in my opinion, cloning for humans is NEEDED for our species progressive genetic survival. animals in the wild ensure their species passes on the best genetics possible to their future generations by types of "survival of the fitest" methods, be they intentionally done by the species or by-products of nature. for example, the mentally/physically weak/inferior will not have the mental/physical capacity that the rest of the members of it's species have and use in order to hunt/survive, so they will die, and therefor not have much of a chance to reproduce, eventually weeding out the weak, leaving nearly all of the species' survivors remaining to be consisting of only the mentally/physically strong who were able to reproduce, which ensures that the future generations will have a better chance of getting mentally/physically strong genes, but us humans have a much stronger sense of free will/compassion/etc that enables (or handicaps) us into letting the mentally ill/*******ed and/or physically handicap humans be born and remain alive with or without mother nature's "rules of the wild"/"survival of the fittest", and our handicap/ability to feel compassion for our fellow humans allows the mentally ill/*******ed and/or physically handicap to reproduce as well, so we as humans don't have the "weeding out" of "bad" genes that the other animals in the animal kingdom have, so we NEED ways to better our gene pools, and we don't have that many other ways.. only 3 that *I* can think of off the top of my head: 1. the "more good than bad = still good" method (which the system we currently use to insure our genetic strengths carry on is most simular to, only the system we use now isn't quite as powerfull as it could/should be in order to guarantee successfull genetic survival/improvement), and this method is to have the mentally/physically strong reproduce (or be cloned) WAY more than the mentally ill/*******ed and/or physically handicap do, that way even though the "weak" will still be alive and even reproducing, atleast the mentally/physically strong will pass on those genetics more often than the mentally/physically weak/handicap, and not be out numbered and/or possibly eliminated, since out numbering or elimination would Greatly decrease the overall average level of mentally/physically strong genetics, and/or would eventually leave us in a consistantly downward sinking spiral, falling towards a species with nothing but "poor" genetics, and possibly even eventually leading to our exstinction... OR 2. find ways to improve genes in existing humans, or atleast in their young (before the young develop at all, of course), which i believe cloning humans could eventually lead to, since a big part of science is using controlled environments, which i believe a clone comes much closer to providing than an original human by giving the scientest a more controlled outcome as far as genetic possibilities go since all of the genes come from the same host, instead of a seemingly random combination of genes from each of the hosts, and i'm sure there are many more genetic benefits that clones could provide scientists as far as gene/cell research goes... OR 3. initiate selective breeding and outcrossing, atleast for a majority of the human race, though that would greatly affect most of the original humans throughout the human race. i'm sure that there are other ways out there, perhaps even MANY other ways, but cloning is definately either a way (or a path TO a way) to improving (or atleast maintaining) our gene pool since we want ALL original humans to live, reguardless of their mental/physical genetic strengths/weaknesses, and the "survival of the fittest" law of mother nature has been overcome by our species to the point that our weak are not only allowed to be born, but are actually supported and kept alive, then allowed to reproduce, rendering the "survival of the fittest" rule useless when applied to humans. so, overall, we won't kill our "weak", mother nature can't MAKE us kill our "weak", mother nature herself CAN'T kill our "weak" (because we defend our weak from her), and our weak reproduce, so that leaves our only hope for a strong gene pool that doesn't directly affect the post-birth original humans, would pretty much be to edit the genes themselves of their young... which can pretty much only be done by experimenting with human genes, or on humans themselves, and since we will NEVER experiment on our own, our only(closest) hope is to experiment on COPIES of ourselves. without bringing up the whole "clones are humans, too" debate, or the "embrios and a fetus is a human, too" debate, or any of the debates that are simular to those in some way, i would atleast like to have humans consider not only the possabilities and amazing things we can accomplish with clones/gene/stem cell research, but also the NEED we have to accomplish those things. when things go from "want" to "need", it then becomes time to start weighing the good with the bad, and not just turning something away because it has a "bad" label on some of it's parts. although i believe clones are a needed step in human progression/survival, i do NOT believe we should raise these clones as humans and THEN treat them as scientific aids... once you allow something to be born and develop self-awareness and/or the ability to feel compassion, you can not go back.. we should not lose our sense of humanity, especially since our main goal is to preserve humanity. i think clones should never reach adulthood or anything ridiculous like that, atleast not with a conscious mind... perhaps as a non-thinking, non-dreaming vegitable or something simular, only enough to keep the valuable organs and cells alive into adulthood (if adulthood is what's needed). the unmeasurable knowledge we can/will gain from clones/clone related experimentation is a field that we can't afford to turn our noses upward from, since we don't have many other options (that won't affect the majority of the original human's individual lives) for securing a genetically successful future for the human race/species. i'm all for cloning, stem cell research, etc, and i think everyone else should be, since we have too many diseases, flaws in genetic codes, mental/physical disabilities and other problems to not use as many genetic-improving/assisting methods as possible. -Just an opinion.. i welcome comments, opinions and questions and in no way am i suggesting that my opinion is the RIGHT or ONLY opinion, just an opinion based on my gathered information (however much or little that may be), and what i THINK i would do with that knowledge if what i know was all there was to know about the subject. though before i would actually DO anything, i would DO more research... these, however, are just thoughts. thanks for reading all of this, it turned out to be alot more than i thought it would be, so what do you guys/girls think?
