i havent seen the movie yet, but im tryin to research the information of the true story that was based on. i can not find anything, people said maybe they changed the names or something?? can anyone help me find legit info?

Is this in relation to "The Strangers"? Honestly, the movie is "inspired by" true events, not "based on" true events. There's a HUGE difference. I think they're just trying to play on people's fears of a home invasion, personally. I don't know that this movie is really based on any one real case.

Saying something is based on a true story or whatever is just a filmmaker's trick to creep people out a little. Like the Blair Witch Project being made out to be actual footage of real people going to find the Blair Witch. We know that was just a marketing ploy. I think it's a similar situation here. Sorry if that takes any of the magic away.
