"“Golden Clone Giveaway” Announced by American Dog Cloning Company
One Lucky Family in the World to Win a Free Clone of Their Dog

BioArts CEO Lou Hawthorne Available for Telephone and Face-to-Face Interviews

MILL VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioArts International and the Best Friends Again program announced today that they will offer one free dog cloning service slot to the dog owner who makes the best case for why his or her dog should be cloned.

This web-based giveaway is open to anyone in the world who qualifies and the winner will receive a free clone of his or her beloved dog. BioArts will handle all of the science, logistics and costs associated with cloning the winner’s dog and delivering it to the winner’s home.

“We recently announced our ‘Best Friends Again’ auction set for June 18th, in which we plan to sell five commercial dog cloning slots to the five highest bidders,” said BioArts CEO Lou Hawthorne. “Frankly, our staff has been touched by the many emails we've received from passionate dog owners who cannot afford to participate in the Best Friends Again auction. These emails describe some very special dogs, many of whom are nearing the end of their remarkable lives.”

To enter the Golden Clone Giveaway, participants need only fill out an application, write a 4,000-character essay (approximately 500 words) on why they feel BioArts should clone their dog and upload a photo of the dog.

The deadline for submission is Tuesday, June 10th and a winner will be notified Friday, June 13th. Computer software will select 200 semi-finalists at random from among all eligible entries. The BioArts team will narrow the 200 semifinalists down to 10 finalists. The winner will be selected by a panel of experts drawn from various walks of life. More details of the Golden Clone Giveaway are posted at www.bestfriendsagain.com/goldenclonegiveaway. The Golden Clone Giveaway is void where prohibited or restricted by law and is subject to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Affliction
...There's something creepy and Noman Bates like about this.

Wasn't there a Futurama episode about the morals and perils of cloning your beloved dog? rofl.gif

Seems sick that you'd want to clone a dog to replace your dead one... A personal friend in most cases and the clone will be genetically the same but will never have the same behavior or quirks as your real dog did. You're only killing the memory of your loved one for a false reality that you've deluded yourself into.
Blue Raven
I would do this in a heart beat if Raven was still alive. Can they extract DNA from his ashes? I wonder dontgetit.gif
Blueguardian
Whats the point in cloning something just go buy another dog, it seems morally wrong to me.

Ya, it's not a joke. Creepy huh? Even more creepy than cloning really.

Agreed.

This whole story also speaks greatly about other issues such as desire for immortality, the notion that science can answer and solve all of life's problems, and as Kratos hinted at, that some are willing to exchange real life for an artificial one, aka the net as well as houses that are architecturally designed to emphasize the individual over the family having to interact and act like one.

People can also elect for cryogenic chambers at death instead of cremation or inhumation in the hope that in the future science will be able to resurrect them.
