"A man wearing a "Transformers" T-shirt who tried to board a plane at London's Heathrow airport says he was stopped while passing through security because the cartoon image showed the character with a gun, according to the Daily Mail of London.

Brad Jayakody, 30, said he was pulled out of line by a security guard who threatened to arrest him because the shirt was "offensive," the Mail reported.

Jayakody, of London, was on his way to Dusseldorf, Germany, for a business trip, when the guard joked with him about the shirt.

"Then he explains that since Megatron is holding a gun, I'm not allowed to fly," he told the Mail. "It's a 40-foot tall cartoon robot with a gun as an arm. There is no way this shirt is offensive in any way."

Jayakody did take off the shirt and put on another one from his carry-on bag instead, so he was allowed to board.

A spokesman for Heathrow operator BAA told the newspaper that "if a T-shirt has a rude word or a bomb on it, for example, a passenger might be asked to remove it. We are investigating what happened to see if it came under this category."

For heaven's sake, don't carry any Massachusetts state quarter coins, you know the ones depicting a Minuteman with his musket. Heck, those are probably illegal even in Massachusetts.

I'm not suprised this happened in London. They don't call it PCland for nothing. Heck, I got in trouble once in 7th grade for wearing a Looney Tunes Xmas sweater and had it to wear it inside out.

so am i to understand that the airline companies now have the right to suspend and trample on are freedom of speech?

I suppose my tee shirt that says "What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist? Recoil" would not go over very well on the international scene. Yep I do love the PC crowd almost as much as I love root canal and a tax audit.

Next it'll be the wolf from the Roadrunner's cartoon. grin2.gif

Not a wolf, it is a coyote. Small but important difference. But point taken and agreed with.

Are you a citizen of the USA? Are (sic) freedom of speech is in effect within our own boundaries. They don't extend to London.

why ? What's wrong with xmas?

There was nothing wrong with it. It was just that around that time, they had that stupid dress code where everyone had to wear uniforms. I had my uniform on, but since it was cold that day, I wore the sweater. My mom wasn't so happy when I told her what happened. She thought it was stupid too. I was so glad that there was no dress code in high school.

Just shows how bad britain has become. They should be out there looking for the real criminals
pedophiles, terrorists, rapists etc. This just shows how PC we have become. Wonder what or who
will be the next victim of the PC brigade ??

I'm suprised the plane itself didn't transform and walk away shaking its head.

When T-shirts are outlawed, only outlaws will wear T-shirts.

I get what was wrong...he wasn't wearing a Starscream shirt! The person that stopped him was a Starscream fan. I'm telling you if he had a Starscream shirt this would have never happened. laugh.gif

PC in England is just ridiculous. It gets to the stage where a local council member who has nothing else better to do will say that it is wrong that we celebrate the nativity at christmas or anything christian. Why you ask.. because it was deemed that it could cause local religious groups, like Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims to be offended by it because it is not their religion.

When you actually go and ask a muslim/sikh/hindu if it offends them, they laugh at you because you have just made a complete fool of a question, so you get the problem where a local council member has just tried to incite racial tension by trying to speak for others that his views do not represent.

Everyone's paranoid. Seriously? Where do you draw the line?

*Sighs* Poor guy.

I wonder if they'll part those things on the 'not allowed at airports list.'
