Well I believe my house is haunted. Many things that cant be answered happens. And I know its a ghost.I want a way to talk with it and see what it wants. Any way spiritual or technological. Any thing I experience will be posted here. I really want some footage to help it out. Or just to talk so I won't fear it any longer. I know what could possibly happen and I am prepared. And by no means will I use a uigi board or however you spell it. Any help will be appreciated. I am not looking for its my imagination. I am trying to find proof of it. And even if I dont I still will believe it because of experiences. And I am not worried enough to make it leave. I just want to know it so I know for sure.

There is no way to have a meaningful conversation with a ghost.

A medium might help, but that's still in no way guaranteed.

I actually wouldn't advise talking to your "ghost" in any way other than just speaking aloud like any other conversation. During the genesis of the Spiritualism religion, many people would "speak" to "spirits" in their houses by asking spirits to make a series of knocks in answer to questions, etc.

BUT - be warned, from a large body of those communications, which included multiple countries, social classes etc, when people begin engaging their "ghosts" in conversation, the events tend to escalate rather than solve anything, as things go from occasional noises or things being moved to much more solid "somebody is in the house" noises and things being pitched across rooms or broken and seeming actual intelligent behavior can be observed - so unless you're prepared to weather the potential of your communications, I'd suggest you quash your communication idea.

I know someone from UM who half-jokes that she has a ghost, and whenever things in her house start to get "weird" (things being moved, noises, etc) she just says aloud, something to the effect of "Ok now, come on, you know this is the last kind of thing I need, if you feel like you've gotta play around, go over next door to the neighbors, please, thank you." And she claims it works, she just sends the "ghost" over to the neighbors (I would think you'd have to not be terribly friendly with neighbors where you send your haunts).

I have some human spirits in my place off and on but quite often. I wont engage in conversation, only because I dont know who or what they are. I have a resident spirit named John, so when I smell cigarette smoke in my bedroom I tell him to STOP smoking in my room, and then its gone. But as far as other spirits, I cant trust them, because I dont know them. If they want my attention they get it sometimes and I shake my head and walk away. If you speak to it, there is always a chance it will open a gateway to others, and some might not be so nice. Normally the ones I dont know, I just smile and pray for their souls..What kind of activity are you having? JN

Just a couple of ideas., maybe you can do some evp stuff with a tape recorder, ask it questions and see if it answers you, or you could put out a piece of paper, and tell them out loud that you are putting it out just for them and if they want to write a message on it for you they are welcome to do so?

Ht, Seems as though you've already convinced yourself it IS a ghost, when it may not be at all! Imagination, happens all the time.
And if you Do have a spook, the last thing I'd do is engage in any conversation with it. Curiosity can lead to an escalation of incidents that may not be so welcomed ...

You could get a priest or medium to come over to your house. You could use a ouija board. But I would just suggest letting things be.

If there are such a thing as life after death, I wouldnt mess with them...they could be evil...They might get inside your head and make you kill someone.

Could be evil, but with so few legit cases, I'd take my chances. But that's just me. I'm certainly not encouraging anyone to do any type of conjuring or whatever. If they're going to, though, just try to be safe and have people with you if possible.

We were pretty certain we had a ghost at our old house. Footsteps on the stairs, never quite reachiing the top. Unexplained noises- the sound of things being dragged across the floor of a particular bedroom when NO ONE was in it.
Weird tobacco pipe smell, when none of us smoked.
Found an old clay pipe in the back garden once.
Shadows walking across in front of you.
A damp cold feeling even in summer at a particular doorway.
Once, me and my brother were sat eating take-out in the living room, and under the stairs we had a load of coat hangers hung up. We heard the distinct sound of them all crashing down. I opened the under the stairs door, not a one had fallen.
My mum felt a hand touch her on the shoulder once.
Someone in my family when they were very little, once saw someone in the bedroom where the dragging noises happened, dressed in 17th centuary farm labourers clothes, with a tunic and straw hat writing unreadable writing on the wardrobe door. He even drew a picture. The house was 200 years old.


Out of curiiositty my mum went to see a medium and raiki-healer. My mum didnt tell her a thing.
She said a lot of stuff about past lives, etc.
Then she said we had a man in our house. She said he had heavy boots (which would explain the footsteps), and was looking out for us, and was upset that we were upset. Which was quite weird cause at the time, we'd had a pretty bad year.

I think it'd be worth seeing a medium or schycic if your quite sure theres someone in your house. Dont tell them ANYTHING about you though. See what they say. Maybe see a priest or get a sychic to come to your house.

That's the same thing with people... Some could be evil... I'm not trying to put you down or anything, but evil ghosts are generally the same as evil people, and good ghosts are generally the same as good people.

In complete seriousness, you may not want to contact a ghost, period, especially if you live there. It could be the mother of bad ideas, because we really don't know enough about them and their effect on the psyche. One thing I'm definitely not skeptical about is the potential influence of truly haunted places on a person's psyche. The psychological/mental damage that can result from them can be lasting and even lead to suicide.

If I had it to do all over again, I would, very firmly, say "Go away." instead of inviting contact with them. Even though ghosts (or whatever you want to call them) may seem "harmless", the fact is they're not supposed to be here any more.

I totally understand the temptation to communicate with what you believe to be a ghost but I would think twice. As others have pointed out, it could be an unfriendly spirit that could turn mean if provoked in any way or communicating with it could open the door for other, considerably more active and potentially evil spirits to come in. The most I would do is set up a tape or video recorder, leave it up for 24 hours if possible or at least overnight, and see what is caught.

Keep in mind, though, that our imaginations can run wild. It may be that what you think is a ghost is nothing more than a drafty house, the house settling, typical creaks and moans you hear a house make, etc. Keep us updated.

Very good advice. You can speak normally to any ghosts in your home. They can understand you, but you will not usually get a reply that you can understand or even hear. They speak with a voice that cannot normally be heard, but they can listen. People who have bad hauntings can sometimes make an agreement with the ghost they live with by talking with it and asking it to behave in a certain way. If the ghost is willing it may comply with your wishes. As an example I have seen more than one instance where one room of a home was made the ghosts special room. An agreement was made in which the family would leave a certain room and never enter it. The ghost would reside in that room, and would bother the home owners much less if that room were not entered.

You can only speak with intelligent hauntings. if your haunting is residual, intelligent communcation would be impossible.

How do you know this? Not being a smart*ss, but how do you know what a ghost can or cannot hear or whether or not they can speak in a way that others can or can't hear?


I think that is a ridiculous arrangement. My house is my house, and I'll go into any room I please, ghost or no ghost. If they don't like it they can get out.LOL!!!

And I'm gonna want some rent too! If they stay that is. I'll wave that though, if they will make themselves known so I can get a higher resale value in the right market.

I believe the initial premise for the use of elementary forms of communication, like having them knock, etc. is because they are assumed to be to weak to do otherwise. Like Jenny, I find the claim of knowing what or how a ghost can do ANYTHING preposterous. And as with anything in the paranormal, if it was known, it wouldn't be "Unknown Mysteries", now would it? lol. Everything thing to do or associated with the paranormal is assumed, and evidence is left to interpretation, at best.

If you want to know the truth to your query, "How do you contact a ghost?"...the truth is.....we don't know. We are often very confused as to how they communicate with us. "Did you hear that?" for example. Dreams....whispers. To me, the paranormal is just something that you roll with...just experience it. Anyone that knows me, also knows I am a firm believer. But they also know I thing debunking is stupid and a waste of time. And generally leaves people looking like fools. But on the other hand, I think it is a waste of time trying to prove the paranormal as well. Why? Are you trying to convince someone else? If you have experienced the paranormal, it was meant for YOU to experience. If it was meant for someone else, they would have experienced it. This is my new philosophy. Roll with it. Experience it. Anything else is a complete fools errand, and a waste of time and energy...and often damaging to your lifestyle.
