I agree that it is difficult to pass an opinion but would plump for its being either not a ghost but a photograher who wanted to rush in and take a picture while the people at the table were saying"grace" or it is the ghost of a photographer. It is clear that, ghost or not, it is poised to take a photograph. That other picture of the "ghost" in the church I believe to being a person in motion as the camera shutter opened.

Once again, that looks totally like motion blur, this time horizontal (ETA: as if sidestepping past Ron, between the chair and the wall).
I'd like to see a photo of everyone who attended the party together, since I'm certain the 'ghost' could be identified from the clothes.

if you look at the blur it looks just like a waitress taking orders holding a pad to write down peoples orders...

Aside from the fact that the woman on the left looks like my grandma, i would agree, it is a waiter or waitress taking an order, you can tell the camera had no flash on, and in turn the shudder speed was slower, creating that blurred effect when the waitress moved.

Considering it was taken in his home, and not a restaurant, I dont think its a waitress, and the family reported activity, so with that said, anything is possible. JN

unfortunatly you can't believe everything you read (especially in the Sun newspaper) which everyone knows is not real news. so the story behind the picture could likely be a total farse. again, i cant verify, just like nobody else can, where the picture was taken, and also even if it was in a home (which they say used to be a Bed and Breakfast) and they also said it was for a 90th birthday, there very well could have been a server as the event could have been catered.

Yep, that is a possibility as well. I like to keep an open mind and look at both side of the spectrum. JN

Me too, although I do realize that I tend to think first that things are just normal (haha no pun intended) until I can't find any natural answer. This one specifically strikes me as something normal simply because with shudder speed you can get a lot of blurring in photos. i just took a photo of my son last night where he looks like a ghost, because i forgot to change the settings on my camera WOOPS!!!

yeah it does, probably not paranormal. Probably taken with a digital camera.

Who says it was even taken at a house? If they are going to post bunk photos, why not post bunk details to go along with it? The Sun should NEVER be taken seriously.
It doesn't even look like a house setting to me - it looks like a formal restaurant setting. Even if is a house, it could be a server at a catered dinner or something.

Umm this is what the article stated:
Spookily, it was taken in a house where SEVERAL people claim to have felt a ghostly presence.

I know the article said that, but so what? It's THE SUN. They lie on an hourly basis.
Nothing like fudging the facts to make their fake pic more believable.

I agree . everything printed in there is likely embelished , we can't ignore their history of it.
I wouldn't trust them as far as i could throw them .
It looks like a server to me also .

I'm sorry but I couldn't help but giggle at this comment.
You are
finding ways to discredit the photo to fit into your own opinion.
But upon saying that I agree it's a case of hoaxing or simple mis-indentification, more than likely someone trying to make money from a photo taken at a supposed haunted location.

Not really - a rag like THE SUN needs no discrediting from me.
My point is you can't believe ANY "facts" they provide, the actual location in the photo is of little importance.
I'll bet even the people in the story are fake.

After reading the article, and before reading the rest of the thread, my guess was that it was motion blur due to a digital exposure without flash requiring a slowish shutter speed. My first impression also, like the majority of posters here, was that it looked like a waitress holding up a pad and taking orders.
I wondered too why it had taken three years to come to light. Waitresses are invisible to many people at the best of times. It seems feasible that her presence was only vaguely noticed at the time and has only now come to seem significant through the passage of time and dimming of the memory.

this is what i was talking about with motion blur from a long time frame.
if it were a picture of an aparition, you would be able to see the texture of the wall through the whole thing.
as clearly there is a spot where the wall was never exposed to frame in the shot, it is missing wall, or covered wall to be more precise.
just someone looking for their 15 min of fame.
