A former homeless man who now works at the hostel that took him in has won £2.6m on the lottery.

Herbert Plant, 49, from Blackpole, Worcester, said he would carry on working at the city's St Paul's Hospice, which took him in after he lost his home and job.

He plans to spend the cash from Saturday's draw buying a car and paying off his son's mortgage.

And the Leeds United fan will also take in a match at Elland Road and go on holiday.

When Mr Plant called his employers on Monday to tell them about the win, he said they greeted the news with disbelief.

Mr Plant, who is divorced, played the lottery by Lucky Dip. He said he first realised he had won when his other son Richard, 24, checked his Lotto tickets on Sunday.

Mr Plant said: "He was gone over an hour so I started to worry, but moments later he ran into the house shouting at the top of his voice, 'You've won, you've won'. I couldn't believe it."

Read in the paper today that he is a convicted child sex offender. The papers said that he paid for a 15 year
old girls rent on a caravan as she had ran away from home. In return he wanted sex, this in turn went on for
3 months he was given 5 years on the sex offenders register. Cant remember if he got a comunity service or
a probationary sentance or what not. Imo i think he should be made to hand over some of his winnings as
compensation to his victim. In his defence he claimed he though she looked older. This man took advantage
of a vunerable under age girl when she needed help, so that kind of blows the karma theory out of the water.
If he though she has older wouldnt it have been wise to ask her or if he wasnt convinced call the appropriote
authorities?

oh well, good news turned bad, anyone remember the rapist who bought a lottery ticket while serving a jail sentence, he was allowed to keep the money and his poor victim had to go through years of court hearings to try and get damages off him,.....................the way i see it, in this world, if your a bad b****** you seem to get all the luck,
