A four-year-old boy is in rehab in Taiwan after he became addicted to smoking his father's cigars.

The father, of Gaoxiong city, started taking his sons, aged nine and four, to a rehabilitation centre after catching them stealing his cigarettes and cigars.

The boys admitted stealing and said they did it because they thought their father looked "cool" when he smoked.

The four-year-old admitted he even pleaded with his brother to borrow cigarettes from classmates when they failed to steal any from their father.

The father started taking his sons to a rehabilitation centre to overcome their nicotine addiction. However, the centre criticised him for failing to continue treatment alongside his children.

Dr Xue Guangjie said the father came to only two sessions and added: "The best way to remove a child's addiction is to set a good example."

The problem is their father wants them to quit and they don't want to quit, you can't force someone to end an addiction.

A 4 year old boy doesn't even know what he really wants. He doesn't want to quit, because he doesn't know or understand the risks yet. All he knows is that it "looks cool".

At least it's better than the poor chimps who used to get addicted.

I'm not denying that, I'm just saying you can't quit for someone.

At 4 years of age, you can get addicted to anything, in this case it was cigars, which are extremely bad for you, and the father has done well to try to curb this.

Buy them some pokemon or whatever the latest craze is.. or a cardboard box.. used to keep me entertained!

Give them plastic cigars, fake money and they can have a poker-mon evening!

I think they still make candy cigarettes. That might be a good way of weening him off cigars.
