"Recently, during a conversation about kids and dogs, a friend shared that soon after her daughter Audrey was born, her springer spaniel, Winston, began exhibiting signs of aggression — including growling to "protect" his food bowl and toys. This was worrisome for obvious reasons, and my friend started researching possible solutions to ensure the peaceful coexistence of her child and dog.

Her vet recommended "puppy Prozac" (specifically the antidepressant clomipramine), which is commonly used to curb aggression and lessen obsessive compulsive behaviors, such as constant licking in dogs and cats, and feather picking in birds."

laugh.gif Yes they do prescribe it for pets.My sister's friends Tony and Joan had a problem with Phoebe, their Jack russel who was always licking this one area on her paw all the time. They tried different things, thinking it might be an allergy.
Anyways, they wound up taking her to the vet, and he prescribed Prozac. She is doing okay with the pill.
She was a shelter dog and so is her buddy Cosmo, also a Jack russel.Really sweet doggie kids,my sister and her boyfriend Ross, are like their unofficial "Aunt and Uncle".

I have a cat named Lily who is probably in need of some type of Kitty Prozac or something similar. Seems like ever since her brother died maybe 5 years ago (hit by a car) she has turned into quite a nasty little lady, haha. She beats up other cats. Constantly hisses and spits at them. Beats them up while they're sleeping. Even beats them up for looking at her sometimes. She doesn't like other cats next o her on the couch or in bed with me, etc. If a cat cleans itself in the living room, she attacks them. It's crazy!

What do you think? Kitty Prozac? Tranquilizers?

the cat has behaivoural issues jason kb... id suggest trying baches rescue remedy before doping kitty up to her eyeballs first, you can get it from a chemist.. you only add a couple of drops to her water and it calms them down.. best to try this first before getting your vet to put pus onto clomicalm (anti-depressants)... and even if you do put her on them.. she will only be on it for a short course.. good luck. sounds like she really likes being top cat in your house

Great, I can see it all now...
Pets become manic depressive, psychotic & suicidal from the side effects of Prozac. w00t.gif

My dog Rocky licks his puppies (the two we have anyway) constantly. Mom has to seperate them when they aren't home for a long period of time, 'cause she afraid he might accidentally eat one of 'em.
