Hi

I need advice. I have been told by many that I should write a book. Apparently I have a very large imagination and my writng is very creative. Thing is I have always wanted to write a book but have absoloutely no idea on how to start. I have written very short stories when in the mood but they have no beginning or ending, just kind of scenes and events. I feel ready to start expanding. I have a vague idea of what the theme is based on but that is as far as it goes, I have a huge block after that.

How do you form a plot, create characters etc etc???

I do know that there are some fabulous writers on here and I would be really appreciative of any advice and help that may be thrown my way! original.gif

I'm certainly not a writer but I have an idea on how I'd start. Have you thought of first doing it in a comic book format? (Not the entire book of course, but almost an 'outline' of it). Quick sketches of characters scenes, costumes, scenery, dialogue...all of that may get you going and may even help in form ideas as you go along-even helping you to describe what's in your head. If you're not an artist, I'm sure that you could find someone who is that would love to help in something that is creative like this. grin2.gif

This might help:

Does newnovelist reduce the amount of creativity in writing?
No. newnovelist is book writing software, but it does not write any of the text for you.
It guides you through the process – in the same way that a tennis coach helps a player.
It provides you with an outline for writing a novel, creative writing topics, ideas and suggestions every step of the way. It will nurture your ideas for writing a novel by organising all your thoughts on characters, plot development and scene descriptions.
We believe that by providing you with the structure, you are in fact freed up to be even more creative as a writer.

On creating Characters you need to bring life to them, I suggest filling this in for each person in your book to help you

Name
Nickname
Age
Sex
Height
Weight
Colour
Hair
Eyes
Nose
Mouth
Education
Work
Live
Personality
Likes and Hates
Marital Status
Children
Pets
Markings
Family

And any others you can think of the make you character more believable

Plus for each year of their life, number from 1 to their age, next to each age, write down a memory for them. This will help your character come to life

Hope I helped
