I was thinking, even with all the drone-like work that comes with it, how one could go about getting a job doing something like this? Or possibly gain enough experience to start your own little side job doing this type of work?

Just wondering.

Job, as in getting paid? Heh, having a sellable face and sacrificing your credibility for ratings, seems to be the secret to success.

As far as making money off investigating claims of the paranormal, the only way to really do that is if you have a group that has a tv or radio show or whatever. Unless, of course, you're going to charge people for investigating their home, but that's kinda evil.

Another thing you can do is become a professor of parapsychology, I guess. Or maybe just have a great reputation in the paranormal field where other newsmagazine type shows would pay you for appearances. Or maybe you could even be technical advisor on a horror movie set or something.

I dont know. I guess there's a few angles you could play.

Well, you could never get a job being a Paranormal investigator UNLESS it is for radio or tv. Shouldn't say never, but it is improbable.

I think it'd cost you credibility if you started asking for money when you investigate the paranormal. And I think it'd be hard to get people to pay you for it. I reckon, if you really want a secure job out of the paranormal and maintain as much credibility as you can, you should look into giving/hosting ghost tours.

I’m sure that if ghosts are ever scientifically proven to the public, getting a job in the paranormal field will become easier. It’s only a matter of time and probability until the right apparition appears in the right time and place. The more phenomenal evidence is captured, the more the paranormal field will grow..

well...yeah, I guess 'job' was the wrong term and I asked the wrong question.

I really should have rephrased it as-what are good beginner tools to have. Not just what they are, but good beginner brands of such tools.

sorry, I realize how very vague I was in my question and ..well, what I should have asked instead.

thanks for the responses.

giving ghost tours would be pretty fun.

I have a pretty stable career as it is, an odd one most wouldn't think could be a job as it is....like I said in my "rephrasing" post above...I shouldn't have used the word 'job'

sorry! ...ghost tours does sound fun though...thanks for the idea 'Ins0mniac'
