It's a question i've asked others and myself many times, now i'm asking you.
Which one do you prefer?

I'd have to say both really. I don't think I could choose because they're both great in their own ways.

I had to say both... they're two difference concepts with a similar setting.

Stargate

LOL Yeah that one was a good concept as well. Some of the episodes of the series are a bit cheesy though. But overall they get me excited and interested with the different scenarios.

Man, even though I am from George Lucas's hometown, I'm going to have to go with Star Trek. Blasphemy, some around here would say.

I said Star Trek. It's just hard to pick Star Wars because you really only have the movies to go by. With Star Trek you have all of the episodes plus the movies. More of an opportunity to gain interest with the characters.

Neither, but at least Star Trek had Shatner!

AH the great debate.. continues....
I think the only way to settle this now, after so long, is in the back of a carpark.
Street fighting rules...
The Prime directive Vs.. a six foot home made wooden Light sabre.

I like both, but Star Wars is alot more imaginative.

Here, here.
I'm not a fan of either; they're both a little too cliche-ridden for my taste, although Star Trek would have been a little better if they had smoked "Health-ettes" that DeForest Kelley wanted to use.

Both mythologies are very valuable to me personally. (Remember that a myth doesn't always equal a lie). The Force of Star Wars seems (to me) to be the next step in evolution that surpasses and eliminates religion. The Force is energy/energies, which is mere science, which is "light years" beyond worshipping (a) deity/deities. The Force is (or would or will be) practical, real applications; not primitive cowering to some kind of imagined ruler of everything.
On Star Trek, I absolutely believe there's a real Prime Directive in place concerning our formally contacting any higher beings; if we ever do. Basically, unless and until humanity is able to forsake the entire secrecy-based concept of government on its own, it has the freewill to screw itself into oblivion (or effectively or nearly so) as only it can choose. Tough love, if you will, but I don't see anything resembling evidence that anything else applies concerning the (apparently) intelligently nonhuman presence interacting (openly) with us. "They can watch the animals in the zoo, but that doesn't mean they want to get in their cages."

Star Wars for me.
I'm not really into those kind of science fiction movies/series, but Star Wars wins because they have cool lightsaber fights

I am a Trekkie from way back. Next Generation was my favorite. I remember seeing the original Trek when they first put it on. It blew me away. There was nothing like it on TV. Now my favorites is the new Doctor Who and Sarah Jane. I love Star Gate too. I have loved Scifi my whole life. Beam me up, Scotty!
