Do you guys ever appreciate it? No, I am not trolling.

I guess I am the minority here, but I am proud of what NASA is doing with space exploration. I recently read a thread about STS-124, the latest shuttle mission, on SomthingAwful forum, and I am deeply moved by mankind's effort to explore space with relatively primitive method. With all those buckets of bolts, they are doing a noble job.

It doesn't matter if a part of US military is hiding some exotic alien technology. Seems like NASA is faring well without help from any alien help.

All the time, NASA absolutely rocks! yes.gif

I do not appreciate the time and money that NASA wasted.
They could have done much better easily.
Big money contracts were more important than rapid progress.

It is a very good thing that other nations have developed their own independent space programs to put NASA on the hot seat by providing result comparisons.

I think you need to read this article.

What we do know—and have recently documented—is that the public perception of NASA’s budget is grossly inflated relative to actual dollars. In a just-completed study6, we asked respondents what percentage of the national budget is allocated to NASA and to the Department of Defense, the Department of Education, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Health and Human Services, among other agencies. NASA’s allocation, on average, was estimated to be approximately 24% of the national budget (the NASA allocation in 2007 was approximately 0.58% of the budget.) The next highest over-estimate was for the Department of Defense, which received approximately 21% of the budget in 2007 and was estimated on average to receive approximately 33%.

In other words, respondents believed NASA’s budget approaches that of the Department of Defense, which receives almost 38 times more money (see “Putting NASA’s budget in perspective”, The Space Review, July 2, 2007). Once people were informed of the actual allocations, they were almost uniformly surprised. Our favorite response came from one of the more vocal participants, who exclaimed, “No wonder we haven’t gone anywhere!”

A little healthy competition is always a good thing. CNSA and ESA seem to be promising enterprises.

I agree with you. NASA should spend all the money to back engineer the roswell alien craft, not that polluter and ineffective space bus.

I am a huge fan of Esa and the work they are doing. They have had several set backs recently such as the beagle project etc but i feel they may well contribute to the space program admirally as long as they can stop arguing with each other.
Bender.
The ESA operates on roughly 1/4 of NASA's budget and yet has achieved so much. I'm very proud of the ESA. original.gif

Our space program is a joke.

I wish every country would come together and share resources and have 1 common goal, if we had done this during the 60's instead of trying to win the space race and beat the soviet union back to the stone age we would already be on mars.

I think that NASA and ESA are doing a he** of a good job.

Putting 12 people on the moon. The two rovers on Mars, the Phoenix Mars Lander and everything in between. Cant wait for the New Horizon space craft to reach Pluto, Charon and the Kuiper Belt in 2015.
