DUANESBURG, N.Y. - A 29-year-old man leaped out of a plane at 10,000 feet with a camera but no parachute Saturday. His body was found next to a house with a damaged roof, police said.

Sloan Carefello of Schenectady, who was observiing on the flight, followed an instructor, student and videographer out the door, wearing no skydiving gear, officials said.

Police said they did not suspect foul play but would not elaborate.

Robert Rawlins, pilot and owner of Duanesburg Skydiving Club, said he was flying the single-engine plane and had begun to close the door when Carafello jumped.

His body was found next to a house west of Albany.

I'm leaning toward suicidal, you just don't jump out of a plane without a parachute and then expect to live.

yeah me too, that would be one intense video- and a good training tape for future skydivers!

Review the tape if possible!? See if he said anything simliar to "OH S#!T!! MY PARACHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!"

Pilot to Copilot: "have you seen my backpack, its got my jacket and the tuna salad sandwhich my wife made, Im chilly and a bit hungry..."

Copilot: "What did it look like?"

Pilot: It was red and blue nylon, with 6 heavy duty straps to attach it to my body, and a rip cord to release the sandwhich in a hurry..."

Copilot: "I dont know, but after the last jump there seems to be a spare parachute it the back that matches the description...cant you just carry a lunchpail like al the other pilots? "

And here I am gettin all fired up that I forget my glasses, sheeeeeeeeeeeesh.

I just read that the police ruled this as a suicide...Seems the guy was always asking his co-workers, "if you wanted to die, would you rather jump off a building or out of a plane with no parachute".....

Yikes... well I guess somebody gave him a good reason for the skydiving option

Maybe he thought he put it on, and then forgot about it? Either way, I bet it hurt.
