Okay, I'm a tad bit confused here. I'm a skeptic of all things paranormal. I really enjoy listening to the stories and I write horror fiction, but I am by all rights a skeptic. Well, I just moved to Cleveland, TX (half an hour outside of Houston) and the day I got here, my family were talking about "the shadow people". My 12-year-old sister and her friend were playing out in the yard and saw this dark figure walking around and apparently it kicked their dog and disappeared. My step brother who is about 30 said he saw something appear out of the corner of his eye and saw a large, dark man just walking around. I have talked to others about these shadow people and almost every here has had a sighting. I even heard that there have been more and more sightings in the area ever since school let out for the summer.

I did a little research on shadow people and found a site that claimed that the shadow people are getting more and more sightings. Anyone else ever see a shadow person? What are they? Also, I see there are a few other threads about the area of Humble, TX (which we are just outside of Humble, TX) so is there anything to the increased paranormal awareness of this area?

It sounds like you already know just about everything there is to know about the phenomenon. People see them. Sometimes people claim that the shadows interact physically with them... or in this case, the dog.

I'd only add a few things:

They seem to come in all shapes and sizes, from small blobs to large silhouettes of human beings wearing hats.

Sometimes they are felt to be menacing and other times benign.

Occasionally, something answering to the description is captured on film and offered as genuine.

Any info beyond that is sheer speculation, as far as I know.

Also they are sometimes believed to be ET's, or time travelers from another dimension here to observe.

wouldn't that be crazy...i've never seen one or whatever. i mean i have seen weird play on shadows sometimes but always just brushed it of as my eyes playin tricks on me...

I have had over a dozen sightings in the past year. They really just scare the crap out of you, because they appear out of no where. I believe they are an imprint left in this plane. Composed entirely of the persons conscience and their memories. A shade..a wraith..if you will.

me and three of my friends saw one back in the 90's.
it stepped out from around a fence then kinda jumped back and disappeared as if it realized it had been seen.
we ran inside screaming and stayed in my room for the rest of the night. they wouldnt even walk home, my parents had to put their bikes in the back of the suv and take them home cuz they were so scared.
all my friends remember that night to this day.

freaky stuff. its like they know the perfect time to surprise you to get the biggest reaction

I always wondered why some see and others never do?? i mean its possible i have seen stuff before i prob. just brushed it off as quick as i saw it. Maybee you have to be open to it before you can see it? i donno

I have had one stand beside my bed, it scared me half to death. I dont EVER want to see it again!!!!

Funny how kids seem to see a lot ... their minds are open. I live in the bible belt and many of the church goers here believe in the paranormal including my grandparents and my grandfather is a preacher. I think this goes with the area that I am in. I have not talked to many who do not believe that there is something to the bogcreepers "shadow people" that we have here. Religious or not ... seeing is believing for so many people.

My younger brother when he was 4 or 5 was up in his room alone, then came down and asked about them, apparently he saw one, but didn't understand.

My friend and I when we were younger called him the "black man" but I think we were just getting each other excited, I don't recall ever seeing one.

Other than that, I haven't heard of them much.

I used to live in a ghost town in Texas
and I remember one day i was suffering from a particularly
high fever (we're talking like 103+)

and I saw shadows walking and I remember I started screaming
and my mother came into the room and they had disappeared.

When I told her what happened, she explained to me
that I could be hallucinating and took me to a nearby hospital
my mother always dismissed it, my father actually took a particular interest in it
but would never mention why.

I believe that everything can be explained logically,
but I'm not a believer in ghosts I believe in solid proof.

Well i'm in corpus chrisit tx, and all we have here is the hanger and the devils house. but i did hear that shadow people are using very dark and conflicted spirits of those who pasted, they might and can get viloent so it is best to stay away from them. but that's just what i heard.

I see another posting about this....well i've had an encounter, scared me ****less because it came out of no where so i didnt get exact look of it....but it like lunged at me after it appeared from the ground and stood up....

are you kidding? I would never pass up such a
awesome opportunity to study such a mystery

I asked, because I'm almost completely deaf and was hoping someone could tell me what the EVP said.

Shadow People? Hmmm. Do these entities fall under the human, or non-human manifestations? All of these labels and titles makes it all so confusing. Are they good? Bad? Indifferent? What is their purpose? Unlike ghosts, I have never heard an account of someone actually communicating with one. But in most accounts, they appear to be sentient, and not some kind of an imprint. And just as consistant, I have never heard of one performing a good deed, or service, or delivering a message of some kind. They are always stand-offish. elusive, and sinister to a point.

I lived in Connecticutt for a time. There was an old staircase in the home with a peculiar quality to it. On occassion, when I was the last one awake, I would turn out the lights downstairs and head up to bed. Of course, unless you are underground, there is always a certain amount of light that lingers in the dark. I would flip that light switch by the staircase and start to head up. I would look at the top of the stairs, and there appeared to be someone standing from behind the wall there, at the top of the stairs. You know...a shape darker than the darkness in the room. A shadow in the dark, if you will. I would flip the light back on, and would see nothing unusual. Again I would turn out the light, and peer up into the darkness, but it was nolonger there. Which only proved to me that something was there the first time. Only now it was missing. This happened many times to me in that house. And sometimes, more of it could be seen than othertimes. Hey folks,maybe you can tell me what I saw Saturday.There is a road here in town called Weiderstein Road. It originally ran from Farm Road 1518
to Schertz Parkway, but was extended to Farm Road 3009.There are a few houses at the start of the road,and also houses near where it hits FM3009.
In between is lots of woods with some open spaces and plenty of land for deer and other animals to roam. I am describing this to you,so you get an idea of the area.
Well,I drove up FM3009,also known as Roy Richards Drive to go to Walmart. Got my catfood and some frozen stuff, then got on the acess road,crossed I-35
and went down Schertz parkway. As I neared Weiderstein Road, for some reason,I turned my head and looked down the road,and saw the strangest thing of my life!

I guess 200 yards or whatever down the road,I saw this Tall completely solid black figure.And croutching near this standing figure on the road was another black figure.They were solid black and seemed to cast no shadow.They looked like Shilloute figures or figures cut out of metal,or paper.The standing one may have been 6 feet tall or so.The standing figure was looking at the road,i guess watching to see if anyone was coming.The croutching figure i assume was trying to catch it's breath so to speak . I almost was going to turn around and go back to see if they or it was still there, but suddenly remembered my frozen stuff,so went home. Folks,I know what I saw.These solid black human shaped figures.Now that I think of it,they kind of remind me of those figures you see for cross walk signs,only solid black.Now later in the day I went up to Lowe's on Schertz parkway,but didn't see the figures. So who or whatever they were may have moved on.I thought maybe it was a joke,but not so sure.

I know exactly what deer,racoons, rabbits,etc. look like.These things had a human shape. Could I have seen shadow people/
With a lot of house building around here,maybe the animals aren't the only thing being driven out.Strange huh???

Ok I think I may have seen one once, In the Oak house (an old Tudor house) we were going to study the Tudors (no duh) my friend and I accidentlay went up to the attic which was restricted because it was collapsable (someone nearly fell through once) me and my mate were creeped because it was so dark,there were cobwebs and old paintings everywere (downright creepy) then me and my mate (at the right hand side of the room) in the corner saw a deep black figure with reddish eye's staring back at us.


My friend was petrified by fear,after 3 moments of blinking it dissapeared from sight,I dragged my friend out of her petfified stupor and bolted back down and lied to the teacher saying I fell and cut my knee and my friend was just helping me get up but the class had left for the otherrooms.


I'll tell you another story what happened that day (an entire class of 30 kids and 2 teachers and one guide saw this) our deputy head Mr.Far is a musical guy who plays an insane amount of instruments,at the top of the old tudor bed in the master bedroom there was an old musical sheet,Mr.far told us they just found it and whipped out his guitar (he carried it EVERYWERE like it was his baby) and sang and played it. Halfway through the song a woman dressed in white came in through a locked STORAGE CUPBOARD nobody went in which had a VISIBLE LOCK from the OUTSIDE which just unclicked and fell off itself and walked up to an old empty baby's cradle and began singing the remainder of the song cradling the invisble child. Mr.Far had abruptly stopped and the lady turned her heel and left back down the 'cupboard' (thats what everyone thought it was) it had not been opened in many many years as the key had been lost an nobody bothered. When opened the 'cupboard' door to see a set of stairs.


Broken stairs but usable. When everyone was scared into silence during the song I had my trusty sketchbook and drew the woman (I brought my book with my everywere I wanted to record any paranormal activity) I was forced to go down but all I saw was an empty musty old room with nothing in sight.


The baby cradle was rocking by an invisible source until the door was closed and locked again. I heard stories that once when the house was indanger of being knocked down (but was saved thanks 2 my school getting enough people to petition for it) the cradle would'nt stop rocking until danger left.


I realised something very scary about the ghost-woman now........


she had red eye's.


Some kids (the skeptics) insist it was an actor....me and my friend new otherwise.

Be wary of them, some have been known to be demonic entities.

Thanks to everyone for replying in this thread. I don't have a clue what these shadow people are, but my little sister claimed that one of them kicked her dog. So they are definately aware of being on our plane of existence and don't care too much about not being seen. Pretty spooky if you ask me.

Do you recount all of your memories so dramatically or only the ones you create?

I thought I was the only one to ever see a shadow anything..... well..... I've never really seen a shadow "person" however, for the longest time I've been seeing some sort of shadow creature that lurks around my house, we don't really see it too often, but it's all there! I looked at a wall in my house one day and saw this black figure on the wall, it fell down off the wall and started to scurry across the floor, it was 100% daylight and we had lights on too, me and my sister seem to be the only ones to see it every now and again (it's also been in my hall, my room, the bathroom, and the kitchen many times) our parents don't believe us, but it's all too real!

Wasn't even aware that anyone could get in there to investigate anything paranormal-

I think they just sub-category of ghosts; pictures much the same aas any ghostly picture
