Mininova is the crap, I love it. XD Anyway, Spooky, I have been looking around for other sites over the past few weeks (literally, because where I live states away from my friend in PA, we've been trying to find sites to download episodes from to watch together), but I can't find anything. :/ All of the ones on SurftheChannel are from Youku, and they load SO freaking slow it's not funny... There was another site, Sidereel, or something, but all the links were dead.

I would have seen the midnight showing, about an hour ago, but I didn't think I'd be up this late. ;; I'll probably go at 7PM, by then everyone will have seen it.

!
Season six is a great season... it's so hard to decide. Dreamland is
definitely great, it's pretty hard to beat, rofl. We'll put six and seven together and consider them as one great big, heaping pile of epic awesome.

How did you see the movie 2 days ago when it's not released until today yesterday for AUS? Sneak preview? download? If download can you PM me with the details of where it was obtained so I can watch it too?
Also season 9 was lame and I'm glad they didn't go there and I am also glad they didn't show 40 something year old's on screen naked.

Yeah, I'm downloading the entire series on mininova - it's a big freaking file

Also, I'm less enthused for the new movie now - Dana and Fox make-out

I'm one of those people who never wanted them to get together

I mean, I loved the sexual tension, but when that was broken... eeeeuch.
Now, the sexual tension between Spooky and Ratboy - I could watch that be broken again and again. Mmmm. Krycek kissed everyone - what a whore.
And I totally just noticed my name is Spooky. Wow. Subconsciously I may have stolen that from the XFiles. I'm a nerd. I swear it's from the Dusty Sprinfield song. Ugh.

Ahh I'm so excited to see it tonight. I don't even care how good it is since I was too young to ever really watch it when the series was still running, so I'm just looking forward to seeing something new for the first time. I do agree about the sexual tension thing though, it was more fun to me when we knew about their connection but didn't see it.
I think seasons 6 and 7 are my favorite though as well. If I could be a total geek, I'd like to add that disc two of season 6 is fantastic. Not one episode I don't like, so I think I'd have to pick season 6 over 7.

It definitely was a movie for the shippers, that's for sure. Though Im' one that is absolutely HEART about MulderxScully, I didn't like how the movie put so much emphasis on it. The plot was interesting, but I also found it quite disturbing in places... I have a feeling that there will be a fair few people unhappy about it. I must admit that I didn't enjoy the fact it was very religious, because that seems to defeat the purpose of the X-Files a little (then again, it is about believing, and I suppose you can take than in more ways than one). It definitely lead on like the suspect was a werewolf, for a while, and I was somewhat disappointed it wasn't. =( It was just very... gruesome. I was
not expecting it to be like that.
And hey! What's up with the constant flow of Russian baddies? ):

I loved the images! Especially the waves, it really gave me chills. I didn't really understand the whole rowboat thing, that was a little confusing. It just made the movie seem like it was meant more for the MulderxScully shippers/fangirls than anything.

I agree, it really would have worked as an episode. A movie should have been deeper, and more "paranormal". It reminds of the episodes in the later seasons that stray away from the monsters and rely on humans as the subjects. What ever happened to the Flukeman?

But! It wasn't bad, I would never say it was. After six years? I would have gobbled up anything.

I enjoyed it and I look forward to them making another one, but if this one isn't successful enough there wont be another one. So if you want a better X-files movie that stays true to the mythology of the series than you should support this one. And I don't think X-Files is all monsters and aliens, either. A big part of why that show did so well was Mulder and Scully and their chemistry, which the movie had TONS OF.
So yeah, hoping for another one.

It hit hard and started digging. I watched the show with my parents from when I was a little kid and I'm still a huge fan of it today and that just kicked me in the head. I'm still just stunned from the movie and how wth it was.
Yes, there was 'tons' of chemistry but if you compare that to the show it's not even close to being the same. They changed it so much and cut out so much of the back story you're left with an orphaned story that is so out of place of the tv series you're wondering why it's under the name 'x-files'. The roles where all different from usual, the investigating was all messed up from normal and the entire 'I want to believe' line was just completely taken out of it's normal context.
If they had changed just the names and got different people to play the parts, it would have just been another bloody awful movie that would have died a long time ago. The only reason it has some rating and made some money is from the die hard x-file fans that were excited as hell going to see it.
Buffy movie would suck right now but an Angel movie would be wicked as hell.

Supppose Buffy could join in somehow.

I was pretty dissapointed in it, unfortunately. We've been waiting years for this movie, and then they give us this mediocre stand-alone story that's basically an extended episode. The story itself wasn't even really that good. It wasn't really strange enough to be considered an X-File. There were some good twists here and there, and the acting was superb, but that alone can't save the movie. I'm pissed that all this time of waiting, we get a movie that has nothing to do with the main mytharc, or even hints at it. And considering how badly this movie is doing at the BO, I can't see another film being made concluding the mytharc, unless DVD sales somehow skyrocket. That's pretty much what everyone wanted to see, and that's not what was delivered at all.

Finally saw it tonight. Just got back from it actually. It was not quite what I'd hoped, the lack of the paranormal rather surprised me. But in the end, I didn't care. It was so great just 'catching up' with those characters. The Xfiles show is my favorite all time series, and I was a devoted fanatic ever since it originally aired. I started watching it the first season and never gave up on it, even though the switching of focus from mulder and scully to the new agents nearly killed it, and the finale not being quite what I expected.
Overall, I thought this movie was good. It WAS like watching an episode of the show. Not the best, no, but great just the same. The scenes I liked best were actually the ones with the two of them. No surprise there, I guess.
It just makes you want to see more, dammit. Like...another episode....hahaha.
I am concerned about it being a 'box office flop'. It was simply released at a bad time, with Dark Knight the king, and Step Brothers, a blockbuster comedy debuting on the same day. I sincerely hope to god chris carter and the rest don't think, well, this didn't do so good, so we shouldn't make another one.
I definetly think they need to go for a 3rd one, this time with more of a grab you by the gut plot......as this one was more like catching up with old friends, and the plot as background. Needs to be paranormal.
They COULD turn this into a highly successful movie franchise, if they give it enough effort. They did it with Star Trek.
...........God I just hope this isn't the last we see of Mulder and Scully!!!!!!!!!!!

"In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Chris Carter said that if I Want to Believe proves successful, he would propose that a third movie go back to the TV-series' mythology and focus on the alien invasion foretold within the series, due to occur on December 22, 2012."

The only Angel movie I wanna see is the one where Wesley comes back from the dead and has a massively smashing tea party... and he is not allowed to be some Fred-mourning emo freak-out job! I want my fresh from the Watcher's academy, akward bumbling Wesly Wyndam Pryce! Or however yah spells it.
But that's another show and thread.
As for a third XFile movie... The only third XFile movie I wanna see is one where the LGM come back from the dead and have a massively smashing D&D-athon, where Frohike serves huevos rancheros, Byers does some manicures (he's gotta know how, he's so well groomed otherwise) and Langley can do whatever the hell he pleases, permitted he isn't dead.

That's exactly what I thought, it was released at a horrible time. There were six people in the theater when I went to see it. )8 I was soooo upset.
The plot should have been more X Files oriented, it just didn't have that feeling of real mystery to it. They've done the psychic thing before, so it wasn't exactly a new thing. But the controversy in the characters was really... wow. Gay marriage, pedophile priest, human experimentation, stem cell research? It was all sort of mind boggling that they threw all of those together. I really can't think of anything else that would have gone that far.
