There are many fantastic movies made through the years but for me, nothing beats those movies from the 80's! Jennifer Conneley's Labyrinth, Never Ending Story and a lot more really created a huge impact on the audience. Aside from the fact that these movies bring back childhood memories, they also inspired me to make movies someday that are great as those flicks. I truly appreciate those people behind those amazing films. Until now, I never get tired of watching them.

When you watch them again you can make a better judgement about which are good. Example: I always thought Transylvania 6-5000 was great. I bought the DVD for $3 and watched it last night. It's really not that good. Dark Crystal is another one I thought was great. I own it and it's not as good as I thought.
But there are some that hold their own:
Goonies
Indiana Jones
Back to the Future
Stand by Me
Melly
Return of the Jedi
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Last Starfighter
Goodfellas
Say Anything...
Amadeus
Streets of Fire

Those are my favourites from the 80s and I could watch them over and over again yes.gif
Affliction
Weekend at Bernies! Weekend at Bernies!

We have the 80's to thank for the 'moving a dead body around like it's still alive' genre.

The Karate f-ing Kid.

This movie inspired me to want to hurt people - instead I only injured myself repeatedly. It wasn't until the second Karate Kid that I put Peter Cetera on my **** list for that damned song that I can't get out of my head.

Oh and I loved the Goonies. Sloth was my homeboy.

The Thing was a great movie, I agree with you about the re-remake(I think the '82 is a remake of a '60s movie). It scared the crap out of me when it came out. grin2.gif

man I could go on forever but in my honest opinion the best horror movie came out in 1987 and it was called The Gate.

Three young children accidentally release a horde of nasty, pint-sized demons from a hole in a suburban backyard. What follows is a classic battle between good and evil as the three kids struggle to overcome a nightmarish hell that is literally taking over the Earth.

The removal of an old tree in Glen's backyard reveals a large and mysterious hole. Glen and his sister, Al, are left to look after themselves for three days when their parents go away. This is when strange things begin to happen, all of them centered around the "hole".

The boy Glen and his best fried Terry accidentally open a gate to hell when a rotten tree is removed from the backyard of Glen's house. When his dog die and a friend of Glen's sister, the teenager Alexandra, buries the animal in the hole, demons from an ancient civilization are released, seeking for two human sacrifices to dominate the world. Glen, Al and Terry, who are spending the weekend alone in the house, fight to save their lives and close the hole.
