A Caliginous Cogitation
The sun goes down
You run inside
Too late, its come
No place to hide
The darkness floods
Through all the light
And causes you
To shake with fright
Oh piercing fangs!
Long black-nailed claws
A terror beast
With massive jaws
It sways its head
Right through the night
And roars to fear
You for delight
You try to run
Run with all might
But the beast will
Eat you, that’s right
Oh, what a gruesome fate for you!
You know it is quite true!
For once you die the painful death
You’ll be crunched-up human goo.
You run in your warm refuge
You peer out the window
And see the monster’s taunting leer
As it roars a grand bellow
Pull up the covers , pull them tight
For you are scared of dark
You hear the monster tap the door
And hear a human-like bark:
“Listen here, pathetic human!”
The beast says with delight
“Come out here and face me yourself,
I dare you, come in my sight!”
You whimper a real weak reply:
“Leave me alone, creature!
I have not done anything wrong
To make me your damn feature!”
The monster cackles at your say
And says with a grand glee:
“I will wait here in the darkness
And a dead man you will be.”
The window breaks shards of sharp glass
A large claw grasps your shirt
You get pulled into the darkness
Grabbing at nothing but dirt.
You finally see the creature
Grinning a mad smile
And judging by his hungry eyes
You won’t be here a while.
But then, just then, oh what good luck!
An orb of light appears
And you realize it is the sun
Blinking through painful tears
A horrible scream subsides now
And the beast disappears
The sun has come to save you and
To rid you of all your fears
But the beast will be back, of course
And I think you know when
When darkness comes to grasp your fears
You go through the hell again.
