OK, since my computer is fried, I have been watching more movies. One I picked up last week was The Tenth Kingdom. I had my niece and nephew over, and, along with my daughterl curled up to watch the first disc, it turns out there are three of them, and we ended up staying up a little late whistling2.gif to watch all 7 hours of the movie. I found it hilarious, and with the character of Wolf being plaed by such a great actor, I ended up watching it three more times before taking it back to the store, just not in one sitting again! LOL.

Anone else seen this movie? If so, any favorite lines? Mine are:

Sally Peep: If my door wasn't locked, I'd be scared you'd come into my house and huff and puff and blow all my clothes off!
Wolf: Where do you live, Sally?

Virginia: I have a hard time trusting people. I just never wanna jump unless I'm sure somebody's gonna catch me.
Wolf: Oh, I'll catch you. And if I miss for any reason, I'll sit by your bedside and nurse you back to health.

Wolf: No, no! "Rare" implies dangerously cooked. When I say rare I mean just let it look at the oven in terror, then bring it out to me.

I loved that film (well, mini-series - 5 movie-length episodes). Scott Cohen was an excellent actor as Wolf, and Virginia's cute (especially after she was forced to cut her hair short - short definitely suits her). There are too many good scenes for me to choose, but I like the Village Idiot, who's lifelong ambition was to become a "Complete Idiot" (at the time, he's only a half-wit). The scene in the final episode where they are sneaking into the castle and are confronted by a Talking Toad that gets chucked through a door to its fiery demise was classic - I mean, really - "What is the point of having a door that leads to certain death" rofl.gif

Awesome series, all round. I liked it so much, that straight after hiring it, I bought a copy from the shop (quite a good price at the time, too)

edit: Interesting question - what did you think of the choice of Camryn Manheim playing Snow White? Not the traditional look of a fairy-tale Queen-to-be, you' think. I think it was a great choice, though.

Ah yes, Tenth Kingdom, I've seen it a few years ago - and loved it. original.gif I must say I was a bit crazy about wolf grin2.gif
I don't remember who played snow white, though

I liked that they put a woman who was larger, yet still beautiful in the part. A little more realistic IMO. I really wish they would make a second one, could you imagine Wolf as a dad? It would be hilarious! Virginia would be trying to be more reasonable, and Wolf would be more playful with his cubs.

^The ending did hint that there were many more adventures for Virginia and Wolf in the Ten Kingdoms, which I think left the story wide open for a sequel. But I'm not sure it sold well enough so they scrapped the idea (sorta like Firefly got cancelled, despite being an awesome show).

Yeah, I already checked it out on IMDB. There is actually a petition to get a second one made. If that actually worked, that would be awesome.

Why do they give up on great movies and keep making more of really crappy ones? Flippin' Hollywood! LOL
Paranoid Android
Ooh, petitions - not that they ever work, but I'll keep signing, just in case. do you have a link, glorybebe? edit: think I found one (maybe not the same as your petition if more than one exists, but I signed it anyway, lol

extra edit: check out THIS PAGE and try and ignore the blinking stars in the background which are really annoying. It includes a letter from the creator/writer of Tenth Kingdom, and his plans on making a sequel - including a tentative Plot-outline (looks like a very interesting story). Unfortunately, the original didn't do too well first time on tv, but box-set orders for the videos/DVD's exceeded expectations, and the volumes of fan-mail have helped plant seeds of a possible sequel. He was approached in 2004 to do a sequel, but with a lower budget (ie, no return of key actors, less special effects, poorer quality animation). He refused. Who knows for the future. The first series took 12 years to get made apparently, and it's been only 7 since, so it could very well be a possibility still *says PA, hopefully, at least*

I can't find the link for the one I signed. And thanks for that link! It just wouldn't work if they didn't have all the main actors coming back. And if they are making a sequel to the Dark Crystal now, who knows, maybe fatasy will be a big draw for the movie industry. There have been a lot of them out lately that have been doing really well at the box office.

I rented it in a video store here in Canada, so I would think that other stores carry it. I actually want to own it. My daughter doesn't want to return it to the video store, I have a week of overdue on it! LOL
