I believe it was haunted history within the last week ................. I believe it's in upstate New York ( could be wrong)

one of the things they mentioned is that every morning when they come in the bottles are mixed up . this was also the same show that showed the ship named the Sullivan for the 5 brothers.

I was wondering why doesn't taps do either or both of them. where there is something that happens every night.

Is that Charlie's? If it is PS had a thing there not to long ago. Charged people 175$ a ticket.
Shankpin
175 a ticket?!! For what?

The joy of standing in the same room as Ryan. Was supposed to be a ghosthunt. But who in thier rightmind would pay to see PS.
Shankpin
I think that is just a load of horse crap!! I *thought* they were supposed to be "genuine" & whole heartedly really truly wanted to help folks that were suffering with spooks- pffft.
If I wanted to see a duck, I'd just walk across the road to my uncle's pond.. he's got several over there. & it's free.

Plainbob13
LOL! Yep Paranormal State's True colours shine through.
Shankpin
& the nerve, he's actually stuck on himself. wacko.gif

It was for a whole weekend thing. Like the way TAPS has their weekend paranormal retreats.

A visit to the bar was just one piece.
Shankpin
Geesh, there's a lot of haunted bars there. I found one called Jeckll and Hyde..
I don't know, but here's a list of all the places known to be haunted there...

Hey MP, I"m not sure exactly what you mean "just one piece." So, is it where people will pay to witness the investigation by that group?

I'm not sure if that rubs right with me.

There are two J&H's in NYC. One midtown and one downtown in "the villiage". I've been to the one downtown. It's a theme bar & resturant. They do a good act. Haven't investigated there but somehow IMO I doubt it's really haunted. wink2.gif

There was a weekend gathering here on LI run by PRS and a couple of others. Ryan and crew were there along with Chip Coffee, Lorane Warren and a couple of others. It involved presentations by PRS, Chip, Lorane et. al., a visit to the bar the first night (social mixer) and then a guided investigation the second night.

If it rubs you with PRS than it has to also rub you with TAPS because they do the same thing all the time. Trips to Stanley, Queen Mary, Eastern State, Waverly, Washington Hotel, etc etc etc all are run the same way.

I don't actually think you want a haunted bar, but really one that is 'empty' meaning free drinks! haha

I assumed if one group was doing it, then more than likely all were. If it's worth it to someone to hand that kind of money over for an experience, so be it. It just doesn't settle right with me, personally.

As an investigation, probably so. Very very hard (if not impossible) to investigate with so many people around doing their own thing.

OTOH, the reality is that for some places you just can't get the kind of access on your own as you can on these types of trips.

And the speakers are usually very good too.

But yes, the prices are going up dramatically. But I guess as long as people are willing to pay....

laugh.gif It's probably no more haunted than my shoe.
I think it's amazing how these places that claim to be haunted can keep the business coming in on that alone (majority of it).. like that Borden place, or that Stanley hotel (The Shining) ?? etc, you couldn't pay me to stay one night in either one.
MasterPo
I don't know the history of either J&H so it may very well be. I just can't say.

Lizzy Borden's house and the Stanley probably do have some level of activity though in both cases I'm sure the publicity is good either way. wink2.gif

I'm biased here- But, TAPS had some interesting stuff (IF IT'S REAL) go on in that Stanley hotel. As far as that Borden place, it's just boring. I haven't seen or heard anything interesting come out of it- Except for "sure" on an evp.

Grant told me they actually had something on the thermal cam ina hallway and ran after it down that hallway and the next before it disappeared. He was at a loss to explain why the production company didn't put that on the air. huh.gif

Either way, at night it's definately a very creepy feeling place! ph34r.gif
Shankpin
I'm assuming the shadow was seen at Stanley's and not Borden's, right? Yea, it doesn't make sense why they wouldn't air something of that nature, considering the things they do air.

*I didn't realize you had your own PI group-

If they showed a shadow on TV then that wasn't what Grant was talking about. He said what they encountered didn't make it to the tube.

*I'm a member of a group but didn't start the group.

Shankpin
I don't remember anything specific on thermal at Stanley. I remember the table being tilted or rising, and a few very good EVPs. No shadow or thermal image, I recall.

Ripley, was it Beardslee Castle?

I thought that was the show. I think it was shown on that show. almost certain. I know that aside from the bar there is another building connected to it that the staff doesn't want to go near.

one of the women they interview ( of 3 ) had long black hair and straight cut bangs. any help ? lol I think she was the one who's beer was set down at the end of the bar by ' the ghost' when it had been sitting in a sink of ice.

I remember seeing that episode. Beardslee Castle was pretty cool, I thought. I found a site that lists all (I think) of the places visited. http://www.theflagship.net/coldspot/docs/h...ry-newyork.html

I want to say it's Beardslee Castle , but I really don't think so. this is a bar - at one of the tables as well sits a man in a light ( white ? ) colored suit as well.
the barmaid said she had left an unopened beer in ice in the sink for herself and when she came back it was open and at the end of the bar with a glass - no one else in the place.

they also stated at night they would make sure all the liquor bottles were arranged only to come in in the morning and find them rearranged .

it could be the castle but I wouldn't bet it all on it.

the distinction I got is that there were two building connected but each a seperate business with seperate names. it also had an upstairs that none of the waitstaff wanted to go near.

edit - it may not have been haunted history ! but I'll look into the castle again. - nope not the castle .

The bar you're referring to is called Katie's in Smithtown & the resident ghost is named Charlie. That's on Long Island not upstate NY. Like MP said it was a 3 day "field trip" where people got to sit in for an investigation, listen to lectures from Lorraine Warren, Chip Coffey & PRS & there were some workshops. There was also a dinner & breakfast with everyone. Compared to the prices of the TAPS tris/events, what PRS charged was nothing. Which btw was alot of fun. We went to the public mingle the first night & had a blast!
