Theres been something sneeking around outside my house for about the last 2 months Not sure what it is buts its there from about 10:30pm to 3:00am and it knocks on the windows and stuff. Everytime I get myself out of bed and look out the window nothing. I know theres something cause my sister is scared to sleep in her room and last night my dog was going crazy at something. My dad thinks its me cause I'm a teenager but its not me.

Try a hidden motion sensor light. Or a bear trap, see what you catch with it. Careful with one of those, the cops might not like the idea when they come to pick up the perv with a leg missing... lol

There's a whole host of nocturnal animals that could be outside your house at night. Have your trash cans been disturbed? Do you have a garden?

Could be (depending on location):

Raccoons
Stray cats
Possum
Deer
Bear
Rats
Mice
Bats
Etc....

Gardens in back and trash isnt messed with but I'm going to hide outside tonigh see if i can catch it.

Birds
Aliens
G.W Bush
Chimps
Gorillas
Etc...


Next time you hear/see something quietly look out the window without being obvious, so it does not sense your presence, then try to get a good look.

Alright Well Nothings happened yet but I'm waiting for it and I live no where nere forest area so it cant be deer or bear I know theres some racoons and possums around the niehborhood i live in though.

With as little information that has been provided, the possibilites are endless. We must have more information. Any guess, animal or spirit, is senseless and pure conjecture. We need more info.

If it is an animal, it won't come around if it hears you or smells you waiting for it in your yard. Your best bet might be some motion sensor lights and a camcorder. Leave the camera running and if anything triggers the lights, you will have video proof. If you have a camcorder with night vision you won't even need the motion sensor lights.

You should've gone to check the perimeters of the house after you heard it knock.

Maybe it was still lurking around somewhere.

Don't suppose it's leaving any tracks/footprints on the ground, by chance? Or if the grass is matted down, might tell you how often it actually shows up.

Well my grass isnt matted down at all and I'm saving money right now so cant buy a motion detector or camcoder for myself.

Do you know nothing of tracking, or setting a trap? Spread some flour around...get a print. You can do amazing things with a little 2 pound test fishing line, a bent limb and a nail.

JackalinChainz is right! My husband and I lived in the ground floor of a Victorian when we were in college at Humboldt U, in California. Someone or something always was in our flat when we were out. Stuff missing, things different than we left them. We set traps with fishing line and straight pins on the only door of our apartment, I sifted fine baby powder on window sills. We got nothing for our trouble, but the knowledge that whatever was coming in and moving things around was not human. Books were stacked, towels folded, ironing board was put away, and our "Traps" were not sprung or stepped in. We moved after the term was over, and couldn't find several items that we knew we missed (wedding presents) while we were packing up. As it turned out, we needed to move back into the same house after a summer away due to the fact that there were no other rental flats available in all of Eureka, Ca. "The house wants us back" my husband teased. Luckily, in our absence, (the place was empty all summer), the haunting moved upstairs to another unit! That poor couple being harassed was so freaked out! Heavy footsteps in the attic above their living room. Police came, nothing up there, not even disturbed dust. I was sure they would find our missing presents, NOT!

Lol I know how to track just havent done much yet.
Tomarrow I'm gunna set some fishing lines up so that if you hit it your leg gets tangled in it and I'll probally have it tied to my tree so no chance of getting away.

It could be something as small as a beetle, do you have any light sources in your rooms?

I have light sources but its a loud knock to loud to be a insect and I set up the trap like an hour ago and forgot I died and tangled my self up in it.

So can some one remind at like 9:00pm to set it up.

I would suggest, take a night off, if your parents allow you or do it without telling them. And hide somewhere from where you can get a clear glimpse of the area and wait for the damned thing to do its business. Then tell us what it is! See, its that easy..

But be careful, because you are not sure what it is....

I've had some strange occurrences like this happen around my house also, my brother and I actually caught a glimpse of it, it looked like a woman with long red hair but it took off when we went after it...This was around 3 A.M. also. It was really kind of creepy since it had its face pushed up against the window like it was ****ing crazy.

Lock yourself in your car about the time you expect it to come around, and have the car positioned so you have a good view of the windows, and have one of those million candle power lights with you. You might also want to have the dog in the car with you to alert on the presence of this thing, when it shows up. Then put the light on it bigtime, and see what in the hell it is. You might want to have a camera ready also. I'd either do that, or be waiting for it up on the roof, again with the light ready to use.

Well, alrighty, I'll make a thread about it now then, it's a pretty strange story all in all. A lot of strange occurrences leading up to it.

I'd stress to him that I didn't think it was something supernatural necessarily, but wanted to try and exhaust all plausible explanations before trying to validate some that are way out.

sorry havent updated was on vacation and needed batteries keyboard and mouse died.

I had 14 knocks last night didnt catch a glimpse at all and it spooked my dog as well.

Theres a screen on my window and if I could even catch a glimpse of it and shoot it I would with something stronger than an airsoft gun.

This might be a case of simple physics.

During the day the window frames heat up and the frame expands. In the evening the air is cooler and the frames shrink. This can often create popping or knocking noises. The sound can be particularly loud if the frames are wood and have swollen from humidity. The windows or house do not have to be old for this to occur. It is just ordinary physics.

Sounds like me, last night I was listening to Coast to Coast am when I had the windows open cuz it was warm and then wind came in and slammed a door in my house and I almost had a heart attack lol. Then like 30 mins later there was a racoon or something in the back yard but at first i just heard thumping and then like a rarrhwch! sound and im like OMG im gonna die! lol But then i just realized its probably a racoon.

lol that may have been my aunts Susan or Kathy...they both have red hair and Kathy is schitzophrenic....

Assuming it is something paranormal, have you noticed any other kind of strange activity going on?

Assuming it is not- I don't know about Opossums or Raccoons knocking on windows, but it could very well be someone messing with you.

I would find some type of timeline that this is happening.
It is Monday-Wednesday and Fridays?
Either, get a baseball bat and hide in the bushes..
